Mrs. Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan, DMK candidate, has been declared elected
to the Tamil Nadu Assembly from the Modakurichi constituency with 64,436
votes. Her nearest rival, R N Kittusamy of the AIADMK, secured 24,896
votes while the MDMK candidate K Elanchezhian secured 20,403 votes. All
the 1030 independents together secured only 7480 votes.
The MDMK seems to be doing as well as the AIADMK. Also, Mrs. Jagadeesan is
a well known LTTE sympathiser who was arrested and held (unjustly) under
TADA for refusing to change her views. Looks like the people have endorsed
her viewpoint. Also, the PRO-LTTE MDMK has been getting a sizeable percentage
of the vote everywhere in the state. What is to be noted is that once the
shadow of voting for government change goes away, the people would swing \
more towards idealogically sound parties like the MDMK. Anyway by simple
arithmetic
PRO LTTE S. Jagadeesan - 64, 436
PRO LTTE MDMK 20, 403
AIADMK 24, 896 ( Many of these votes could be pro)
Contrasted with the pathetic performance of parties like the BJP things
seem to be looking great for TN.

small correction, not "is" but "was".
>PRO LTTE S. Jagadeesan - 64, 436
was pro LTTE and now anti LTTE S Jagadeesan wins. Unless she is going against
our muthu boy's policies, which I really doubt.
>PRO LTTE MDMK 20, 403
was Pro LTTE and now pro LTTE, professional losers of the MDMK: surprise,
surprise, lose again.
>AIADMK 24, 896 ( Many of these votes could be pro)
Yeah, right. And you are the monkey's uncle perhaps? Ooops, sorry, you _are_
the monkey's uncle. But your contention is false anyway.

Daniel!
Personally I would feel bad if TN starts supporting Tamil Eelam cause
again.
As a guy who has spent all my life in TN I have no right to comment
on the sentiments of Tamilians in Sri Lanka. I have known only a couple of
Srilankan Tamil families personally. (I am from Manamadurai)
But so far, I have not been able to see their logic in a separate Tamil
country. But they are the ones who suffered there. So they must know
better. It is not my problem.
I feel bad for them as much as I do for the Ethiopians or Serbians or
Kurds or Kashmiris or any group of people struggling in the world. Just
because they speak Tamil their struggle doesn't and needn't become closer
to my heart.
TN has its own problems. We don't have time to bother about our
neighbors.
I would prefer an inexperienced rookie as next CM to a confessed LTTE
sympathizer like Vai.Ko. I don't want to see the blood of another North
Indian - Anti LTTE Prime minister in my soil.

Siva
