Am interested in knowing the roots of the gotra "Naidrupakashyapa". I
have searched every where on the web, but am not able to get the root,
lineage, history, etc of this gotra as opposed to standard ones like
Kashyap, Bharadwaj, etc.
Thanks and regards
Ramesh

Naidrupa has nothing to do with Naidus. Be that as it may, Naidus were
considered Sudra but weren't considered entirely low since they have
gotra. (Normally, only Brahmans, Kshatriyas and Vaishya have gotras).
Also, Naidu is a class (in the erstwhile class system of Andhra), not a
caste; they are of multiple castes such as Baliga, Kamma and Kapu. Of
these, the Kamma caste has a legend that they are related to Andhra
Brahmins (I don't know what the legend says about how their common
ancestors divided into Andhra Brahmins and Kammas). In Tamilnadu,
Naidus are a caste, not a class. My cousin recently married a Naidu
from Tamilnadu; at the reception, I asked her uncle if he knew when and
how a concentration of Naidus came to be in Coimbatore. He said that
his ancestors were in Telingana where Muslims were raping their women,
so they fled with what they could carry on their heads, leaving their
immovable property behind and settled in a place where there were few
or no Muslims (at that time).

Their gotra would be Kashyapa. There are strictly only 7 gotras; the
rest are considered pravaras (sub-gotras) of one of the 7 gotras
(though pravaras are often loosely called gotras). Naidrupa would seem
to be one of the pravaras of the Kashyapa gotra.

In Saurashtra 'ter tA*sLi' that is "13 eating bowls" is(was) applied to
veriety of groups, shphereds being most represented in that. That is
they can eat sitting together.

Gotra is for one who agrees to follow a tradition and teaching ( it is
like an university affiliation). Those who wish to follow a rishi have
the usual gothras, gauthama, vashishta, bhradwaja etc. In fact many did
not follow traditions over time and actually "forgot" their gothrams.
Those who did not follow and are not ordained with samskaras are
sudras. But if they wish to follow and dont know the teacher, they very
often choose the Deity such as Vishnu Gothram, Shiva Gothram, Skandha
etc etc. However, if one wishes to follow a teacher, he may adopt his
teaher's gothra. However, Kashyapa Gothra is for any one to adopt as
Kashyapa is the original teacher for all.
Kammas later had relationships with Brahmans. It does not mean these people
are of any High Caste origins!
Naidus became Kings without any Kshatriya heritage!

Bhradwaja or Nandhi Gothra were Pallavas. Their decendants are now poor
weavers in Tamil nadu but their counterparts in Kerala are still Royals!
Varmans(Tamils) or Varma (Kerala)or Verma =North India are still in India!
Kshatriyas are still a defeated people in India!

I know Naidus who don't trace their ancestry to Kammas. So, there!

Descendants of Brahmins don't have high caste origins, eh? Then, descendants
of whom have high caste origins?

Who said they were Brahmins or Kshatriyas?
