I do not think this applies any where! In US, UK etc if a person is
asked who he is, he would say, I am from California or Edinburgh etc!
No one would the other I am an American or British subject! That is
obvious! Moreover in India even when you look at the othwer person
often but not always you know he is a muslim or Hindu or Sikh etc
although Christians, Buddhists, Jains are not "visible"
