"Pathini Penn"
Starring: Janakraj, Roobini, Nizhalgal Ravi, Gopalkrishnan, Chandrasekha
r, etc.
Rating: Very Good!! I don't want to give the story away, even if I do
give only a commentry it would be like telling the story. Unlike any
other regular Tamil film, this one is NOT even predictable (a common
thing about Indian films) till the very end. Every part of the story is
inter-twined with the characters of the film, in the sense that a
situation faced by one person is also reflected on the next and so on...
sought of like a Wordsworth or E. A. Poe poem. This is a true Family Fil
m, not to be missed! The songs are good and they teach morals too. There
is only one innocent fight scene, another surprising one for an Indian
film. No wasted scenes. If the person from whom you rent or buy films
does not have a copy, then suggest him/her to get one. Its worth it.
One last thing: Comedy too mixes well.
Any comments: Please send follow-ups directly!

I completely agree with the above review. I just saw the movie last
weekend and felt the same way as expressed above. The director of the
movie, R.C. Sakthi, has done an excellent job and so did the music
composer M.S.Viswanathan also. All the actors also do an excellent job.
By the way, I was in India last month and I didn't hear about this movie
at all. Is it a recent movie? Can any one throw some more light?
All I heard about a movie in India was about Gentleman, expected to be a
mega-hit.

Why this inferiority complex? As if Hollywood movies are something
we should look up to! Most of the Hollywood movies are junk anyway.
Try watching "Indecent Proposal" or the hit movie "Pretty Women"
to name a few.

I suggest you watch the movie "The Player", which is a satire on
Hollywood and it's director 'Richard Altman's interview about the
movie. (You have to watch the interview to appreciate the movie
better).

I too was in Madras last week and I didn't hear about this movie either. I saw
'Gentleman' though, which is a mega hit right now in madras. This is
my opinion about "Gentleman".

Starring : Arjun, Madhubala, Janakaraj, Nambiar etc,.

Gentleman is another crap of a movie. A typical masala movie which goes
nowhere until the director realizes that he has to send some message to
the people and this happens in the last ten minutes in the movie. The movie
basically condemns the idea of bribing some hotshot guys to get a seat in
a educational institution and calls upon everyone involved to stop this
practice. The moral seems very much sensible. But the solution given is
absolute crap. There seems to be no continuity in this movie at all.

There is one dance sequence by the upcoming artist "prabhudeva" which doesn't
mix with the storyline at all. "bit ottara maadiri" irundhudhu ....

BTW this prabhudeva seems to be the latest hero for the dancing teens in
Madras. He is good and seems to take ideas from M C Hammer. But he is
definitely good. The songs are good even though copied. The best songs
in this movie are

"en veettu thottathil" SPB and sujata
"ottagathai kattikko" SPB and janaki

Other famous numbers are

"chikku bukku rayilu" Suresh peters & Master kumar
"parkadhe parkadhe" min mini & chorus.

"chikku bukku rayilu" is the dance number for prabhudeva's dance.
