I heard of these extremely accurate forecasters in TN close to
Kanjipurram, Madurai, and maybe Coimbatore who can tell many things about
you and yoru family's fortune. Supposedly these fortune tellers (FT) come
from one clan of people, and this skill has been passed from generations
onwards. This is what they do: You go there, and they already have your
chart as if it were predestined that you show up there. They *won't* ask
your name, THEY WILL TELL YOU! In addition to that, they will also tell
you simple things, like how many siblings you have, and their names! My
friend visited one in Madras(Chennai), and told me abouit how they
predicted that his name (after asking him a few questions), and then after
about 5-6 questions, they pulled out this leaf with his chart on it. He
told me that this was his chart correctly. Also, they require a
thumbprint from you as well. They predicted, while he was a first year
Phsyics student, that he will become a Electric Engineer. This was such a
risky prediction: how many people change majors in India like this? The
astrologer was correct. He also predicted amazingly accurate things.
My questions:
1. Where are these astrologers/FT found?
2. How much do they charge?
3. What is their "clan"?
4. Do you believe in them?

Hari Pillai

Dr. Jayabarathi of Malaysia is an authority on this subject. He discussed
this topic, Naadi Jothidam, in the Tamil.Net mailing list a year ago. The
discussions, mostly in Tamil, are available in the Tamil.Net list archives
as well as Dr. Jayabarathi's web site:
<http://www.geocities.com/ResearchTriangle/5828/naadi.htm>
There are several such Naadi astrologers in Tamil Nadu, not all of them
authentic. The ones in Vaitheeswaran Koil near Thanjavoor are believed
to be authentic. You life is divided into about 5 or 6 Cantos (Previous
lives, Birth, Marriage, etc.) and they charge about Rs. 500/- for each
Canto. You can get more authentic details from Dr. JB's essays.
It is hard for me to say I believe in them, because the notion of
pre-ordained life with very few degrees of freedom for the individual
to change his life clashes with my training in science. And the
concept behind Naadi's border on the fantastic and at times
like science fiction. And yet, I heard the Naadi tapes prepared
for my wife years before I married her. I cannot explain the
number of coincidences in that tape, particularly the details
about me! Whereever the prediction was precise, such the
number of brothers and sisters, they were correct. Some
of the other predictions are a bit vague but can be interepreted
in only a limited number of ways, and one of them fits
exactly. The predictions were "wrong" in what they failed
to predict but should have been predicted - they did not
specify in which country my wife will live though they
got other details about my house correctly.
There are quite a few westerners who are taking all this
seriously and are analysing it. A famous Astrologer
in Tamil Nadu, Late Mr. Krishnamoorthy, studied the
Naadi system and claimed to have incorporated a lot
of attributes of Naadi in this Krishnamoorthy Padhathi.
I still cannot say I believe in Naadi; nor can I dismiss it
entirely.

His predictions are as follows:
My name will be a goddess name.
(He is for very sure that my name won't be Hillary, Poh Hong or Michelle
goh!)
My mother's name will start with one of these letters!
"ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ".
My father's name will be either Vishnu,Shiva,Ganesha,Muruga or their
aliases.
My brother will be a businessman or a employee.
I will get married to someone from north or west or east or south or
northeast or southwest or middleeast or northpole or southpole.
I shouldn't be surprised that I can get proposal even from Antartica!
(any researcher there? :-)).
And in my last birth I was a doctor in Kalinga!(Ashoka's period!)
But for sure in next my birth, I wish to become a fortune teller and have a
nice time
fooling around. :-)))))
Sounds fascinating. Yes, please post their locations in Cheenai, Coimbatore or
Bangalore.

Namaste!
Yes, the good predictors are obviously very believable. The so-
called "clan" is simply the generational process in which parents
pass on knowledge and skill to the progeny. This is true in many
occupations and professions. Their charges vary from free, to
small monetary donations, to large fees (some are currently being
exploited by westerners who are acting as middle-persons of the
services, and travel agents, charging a lot of money.) They are
found in several states but I will not publicize their contact
information against their wishes. Jyotish and related sciences
are an integral part of a Jyotishi's spiritual, religious Saadhanaa.
