Personality in Contemporary South India, published by Department of
History, University of Lund, Sweden.
2. Regionalism and Religion; The Tamil Renaissance and Popular
Hinduism by Charles Ryerson. PhD thesis, Harvard University, 1988.

To know the other side of the story, you may also want to read
(if you can get a hold of it), a series of articles written by the
veteran freedom fighter Nellai Jebamani entitled "kandukoLvOm
kazhagangaLai", detailing all the blatantly opportunistic decisions
taken by EVR and his demagoguery. They appeared (either in the
mid- or early eighties) in the Tamil periodical Thuglak.
There is also a Ph.D thesis by a lady who studied EVR and his
contribution to TN. I cannot recall her name or the book's title
(there is a copy of the book in my house in India but I haven't
read it, although I have been wanting to); if I find out, I'll
post the details.
