About Dr. B. V. RAMAN
Dr. B. V. RAMAN was India's most famous astrological savant. He is
today considered the Father of Modern Astrology. His persistent
efforts for over six decades led to Indian astrology being recognized
as a science and it's inclusion in the Universities of India in the
last two years.
Dr. B. V. RAMAN studied the relations between cosmic and terrestrial
phenomena throughout his career. Through a number of books, lectures
and research findings in THE ASTROLOGICAL MAGAZINE, Dr RAMAN
popularized astrology as a science. His favorite research subjects
were Hindu astronomy, astro-psychology, political forecasts and
disease-diagnosis. He wrote several authoritative books on astrology
which today are respected as standard works on the subject.
Dr. B. V. RAMAN was honored with the "Life-time Achievement Award''
for his services to the cause of Astrology during the International
Symposium of Vedic Astrology at San Rafael, U. S. A. held in September
1992. He was conferred the "Man of the Year, 1995'' award by the
Centenarian Trust, Madras, formed in the memory of Kanchi
Paramacharya.
Dr RAMAN received an honorary Ph.D. from the Pythagorean University
and was also elected a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society,
London. He was awarded a Doctorate in Literature by the Akhila
Bharateeya Samskrita Sammelana. He has also received the honorary
degree of Doctor of Letters by the Kumaon University.
Dr RAMAN founded THE ASTROLOGICAL MAGAZINE in 1936, which he edited
for over six decades until his passing away in 1998. The magazine
continues to be the most respected journal of its kind in Asia.
