THIRUKURAL - TRANSLATION/COMMENTARIES IN LANGUAGES OF THE WORLD
THIRUKURAL of THIRUVALLUVAR is the most popular, most widely esteemed
Tamil Classic of all times. It is a tamil book on philosophy and
life in general, written by Thiruvalluvar, a sage and philosopher,
about 2000 years ago. Its appeal is universal. It is the only tamil
literary work (possibly after the Bible) that has been translated
many times in almost all languages of the world.

The following is a list of translations/commentaries of the tamil literary
classic THIRUKURAL - taken out from the Encyclopaedia of Tamil
Literature,
vol. 1, Inst. of Asian Studies, Thiruvanmayur, Tamilnadu, India.
I am putting up this list for the following reasons:
i) to educate ourselves on the existence of these books;
ii) so as refer to our indian and western friends/colleagues;
iii) make the bibliography complete.
As it can be noted, the list below mentions only the place and the year of
publication. Anyone who has any more info (particularly the
name of the publisher) and also any other related works not mentioned,
PLEASE send me the details so that I can complete this list and
make it available to the benefit of internet community at large.
It is very difficult to get a copy of the book through a bookseller
or through a library if full bibliographic details are not available.
