Taking a break from the Elections, can some netters
help me compile a list of male duets in Tamil movies.
(i.e., songs in Tamil with two different male
Playback singers...)
For eg. -
1. Vaanam Enna - from Vetri Vizha - S.P.B and Malaysia Vasudevan
2. Kauttukule - Dalapathy - S.P.B and Jesudaas
3. Eduthu Naan - Pudu Pudu Arthangal - S.P.B and Illayaraja
4. Nanbane - Savaal (or Sattam) - S.P.B and ....
I am sure we can come up with a decent list...
Thanks,
Balaji.

A favourite of mine:
Andhi nera thendral kattru -- movie ??? -- S.P.B. and Jeyachandran
Also,
Thenpaandi Cheemayile -- Nayagan -- Kamal, Illayaraja
(I am not sure if this really qualifies as a duet... no exchanges I think)
5.Then Pandi Cheemayile - Nayakan - Kamal & Ilayaraja
There must be more! :-)

when I was in Bombay recently, I went to Mattunga (and no matter what
anyone tells you, stay away from the Udipi restaurant), and ended up
buying a lot tapes i hadn't seen in a long time. mostly, i bought
soundtracks of movies i had seen many years ago--iru malargal, aboorva
ragangal, rathakkaneer (which i liked, i swear). i mentioned my selection
to someone at the yesudas concert on the weekend, and he was totally
astonished by my taste--and then i was too shy to ask what movie tapes i
*should* have bought. so what are considered the *classics* of tamil
movie soundtracks? and please, no answers from a.r.rehman acolytes--i've
heard roja and bombay, and i'm not impressed.
"Hey raaja, ondraanOm indru...", some Shivaji, Sathyaraj & Radha starrer. Of course,
there is some humming by the female playback singer.

Also,
"Mega veedhiyil nooru veNNila, medai pOttu Adugindrathey.." Vetri Karangal/Padigal ??
Prabhu & (the hero from "KrOdham")

Correcting myself, "Aval paranthu ponale" is from Paar Magale Paar.
The song from Padiththal mattum pothuma is "Penn ondru kanden" also
by TMS and PBS.
Another song in this category is Naalai Namathe by TMS and SPB.

Aha! You went to the wrong person for advice then. Just a few steps
away from Udipi is South Indian Concerns. The food there is absolutely
divine. Serious plaintain leaves, sambar in bucket, nude above the
waist mAmAs serving food kinda place. Used to be one of my favorite
haunts the four years I was in Bombay.
Its kinda amazing the way Matunga folks have replicated
Mylapore!

Anda Naal Gnapagam nenjile vandathe ... *ing Shivaji, Major Sundarrajan

also in that movie I like the song En Kelvikkenna Pathil ...

Sorry, the second one is wrong!!!!
I had "pennondru kanden " in mind and I worte the wrong song.
"Vanam enna keezhiruku bhoomi enna melirukku sorga logam pakkam vandadhu..."
from vetri vizha (Kamal & Prabhu, playback by SPB and Malaysia vasudevan)
"Oru pennai parthu nilavai parthen nilavil kulirillai ......."
from padikadha medhai (Shivaji & Balaji, playback by TMS and PBS)
This is the way the "Matunga folks" remember Mylapore from when
they left. I think the Mylapore mamas have started wearing shirts
well... maybe banians) now!
Ram
Nallavan... Nallavan enakku nane - Padiththal mattum poduma
murugan
"Vaada machchaan vaada ..." - TMS and ALR in Andru kanda mugam.

Sadly, you will be hard pressed to find a traditional South Indian
restaurant
in Mylapore these days. Damned fast food places have mushroomed.
Suresh
The "true" SI restaurants in Mylapore when I was last there three
years back included 'Murudi's Cafe' [or was it called something else?]
on Luz Church road, Rayars Cafe on Kutcheri road and one near the
tank. Are these places still around?
