***Kajol mattum padaththil irundhaal podhumaa??.. The latest from the AVM
"Minsaara Kanavu" camp is word that they are seeking another heroine
besides Kajol for the film!.. Namma "thillana" Nadigai Meena's name seems
to be on everyone's lips.. Yet no confirmation from AVM niruvanaththaar!..
Since "Minsaara Kanavu" is scheduled to be taken in more than one language,
Rajeev has put the story and all the dialogues on a computer disk and given
Prabhudeva, Arvind Swamy, and Kajol each a copy disk!..
(Technology has improved sooooooooo much!!)..
***Ore Kuzhandhai mayam.. everywhere!.. Pragathi, who got married
sometime last year, is munching on mangoes, pregnant three months!.. She
married a Christian guy by the name of Muller and fought with her parents
to get married to him.. She is still fighting with her parents and living
with her parents-in-law!.. In the meantime, Lalithakumari (Disco
Shanthi's sister, who acted as a cinema paiththiyam in "Manadhil Urudhi
Vendum") gave birth to a healthy baby girl!.. Adhanaal, Prakash
raj(Aasai, Duet)-ukku Appa promotion.. and Disco Shanthi became a
periamma!..
***"Peyir-la yenna irukku?"-nu neengal ketaal, niraiya new faces will
muraichchu-fy at you!.. cause, the latest fashion for heroines is to
change their name to bring more luck to their career!.. Vijayadurga's
daughter Sailaja became Ravali in "Thiru Moorthy".. while "Thai Maasam
Poo Vaasam" Devaki became Sushmita (Nalla velai, andha Sushmita-vukku
"Sen" irukku!).. "Maangalyam Thanthunaanena" Jeeva becomes Reshma in
"Kizhakku Mugam"... and "Seemaan" Mandhaakini becomes Jeeva in the film
"Manasu".. "Naatupura Paatu" Anupriya became Abirami, during the course of
the shooting, has become Rangeela.. Idhu poraadhu-nu akka-thangai, Sheetal-
Shakila(Play girl).. Sheetal becomes Bharathi (hope she is same as the one
who stars in "Minor Moses").. While Shakila, thanks to "Varaar Chandiar"
becomes Divya..
Pandiyarajan-ukkum idhay mogam pidiththu.. one of his films initially
titled "Karppuk arasan" was re-named "Reel Mannan".. adhuvum maari, it
has finally become "Seiva Kokku"...
(Kaalam maari pochu, peyir-um maari pochu, naalai nalla naalai yendra
nambikkai undaacho?!)
***Shengotai-yil Sundhara Purushan-ukku Ulladhai Allithara re-enter
aagiraar Rambha.. Though her first movie in Tamil, "Uzhavan" which was
Prabhu's 100th film did not do well, Rambha's career has been rejuvenated
by the publicity done for "Shengotai" produced by R.B.Choudhri (Super
Good films).. Even before "Shengotai" comes out for Pongal, Rambha has
already been signed to act in R.B.C's next venture "Sundhara Purushan"..
and to star opposite Karthik in "Ulladhai Allithaa".. to be directed by
C.Sundhar(Murai Maaman, Murai Maapillai..).. Yenna, idha pada title-il
"Murai" illaiyo?.. But Rambha's Tamil movie career is really picking up!!
***Olli pichchaan aagi vitaar Revathi.. For her role in "Aur Ek Prek
Kahaani" directed by Balu Mahendra and produced by well-known director
Mahesh Bhatt.. in which Revathi stars with Ramesh Arvind and Heera,
Revathi has lost a considerable amount of weight.. As a result, ippo
ella weight gain panna vendiya nelamai-la, she is hanging out with her
best bud actress Rohini and both of them are having fun taking part in car
races and writing a screenplay together for a T.V. serial.. Incidentally,
Revathi did the dubbing voice of Suvalakshmi in "Aasai".. and she has
previously done dubbing for Saranya in "Pasum Ponn".. Rohini-oda dubbing
disease Revathi-kkum thottri kondirukka?..
***Let's meet Sonia again!.. Remember the cute little girl in "My Dear
Kutti Chaaththaan".. well, that girl isn't so little anymore!.. Sonia has
become a hot-shot actress in Malayaalam.. and is beginning to re-enter
the Tamil movie industry again.. Her brother Master Tinku was also
popular when she was acting as a child artist!.. Sonia who made her
re-entry through Radha Ravi's "Ilaignyar Ani".. was the one who did Subhasri's
role in the Malayaalam version of "Muthu"... which was "Thenmaavin Kombaththu"
Sonia currently stars in "Gnanapazham" with Bhagyaraj, Sukanya and Goundamani
and directed by R.P.Vishwam.. and in "Veerapaandi Kottaiyile" with Vineeth..
and with a new face in "Ullen Aiyaa"..
***Manoj K. Jayan rumoured to marry Oorvasi has been bugging her to help
him get a break in Tamil films.. Oorvasi pidi koduththu indha subject-ai
paththi Jayan kitte pesame, nazhuvi kondirukkiraar!.. To make things more
interesting, Jayan is sincerely making an effort to learn Tamil.. while
he does have one Tamil film to his credit.. He starred as one of the
villains in "Thalapathy"... Jayan jeyipaar-aa?..
***Magangal-in varavu!.. This year has brought a lot of star sons into
the tamil screen!.. Vijaykumar's son Arunkumar, Gangai Amaran's son
Venkataprabhu, to star in "Poonjolai" with new face Rasikaa, now comes
G.K. Reddy's (producer of "I love India" and "Mahaprabhu"(in dubbing
now!)).. son Vikram will star as a hero.. The same situation holds for
K.T.Kunjumon's son Yebi.. still uncertain in what films Yebi and Vikram
will make their debut!.. G.K.Reddy's son Vikram is different from the one
who starred in "Meera" in Ishwarya.. Ivalavu peyir varaangale, evalavu
peyir thaakku pidipaangalo?..
***"Pudhu Nilavu"-ukku pudhu directorial touch tharugiraar Vishnuhaasan..
Vishnuhaasan makes his directorial debut in "Pudhu Nilavu" with Jayaram,
Vinitha, Ramesh Arvind and Sangavi!.. The music is by Deva!.. The aspect
that makes Vishnuhaasan special to the cine field is that he served as
Director Dinesh Babu's assistant in "48 Mani neram".. a film which is in
the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest a movie has ever been
made: 37 hours flat!.. Vishnuhaasan believes that his experience as DB's
assistant will come in handy in directing his own "Pudhu Nilavu"..

***"Naataamai" M.P. aaga aasai padikiraar.. As already mentioned before,
Saratkumar, on his own accord, naatukku nalladhu seiya vendum yendru
vandhirukkiraar.. He wishes to compete for a member of parliment seat in
this year's elections.. Another take on this, is his great knowledge of
many languages which may come in handy if he does become an M.P... One
other thing, he made very clear.. He is giving his full Aadharavu and
support to Rajini.. and Sarat will join Rajini if Rajini starts a
katchi.. Sarat will not join any other katchi (even if Rajini doesn't
start one!).. Ippadi vishayam irukka, Sarat was asked: "Rajini katchi
arambiththaal, ungal padhavi yenna?..

Vadivelu and others.. Music by A.R.Rahman and directed by P.Vaasu!..
Almost all of the film was picturized in London!!..
***Shengotai.. Produced by R.B.Choudhri(Super Good Films).. Arjun, Meena,
Rambha star.. Music by Vidhyaasaagar.. Directed by C.V.Shashikumar (New)..
After struggling with keeping up with scheduled release dates and other
types of problems, there is a good chance that Shengotai will make it for
Pongal this year!..
***Musthafaa... Produced by P.G.Srikanth(Sevalaperi Pandi, Udhavum
Karangal).. Directed by R.Arvindharaj(Oomai Vizhigal, Uzhavan Magan)..
The film stars Napolean, Ranjitha, Mansoor Ali Khan, Lakshmi,
Prasanna(who is also the story writer),.. Music is by Vidyaasaagar.. It is
based on a thodar kadhai that Prasanna wrote for Anandha Vikatan..
***Parambarai.. Prabhu's latest flick with the very successful
K.S.Ravikumar.. Roja, Manorama, Goundamani, Senthil, Dance Master
Tharunkumar who makes his debut as a villain star.. Deva composes
music!.. With the success of "Periya Kudumbam" Prabhu seems confident
that K.S.R's direction is the secret to success!.. Erode Soundhar writes
the story and the dialogues, following his great work in "Naataamai"..
***Aruvaavelu.. Nasar's debut as a full-length hero.. Oorvasi, Rajesh,
Anandharaaj, Vadivelu and Senthil star.. while Adithyan composes music
and Bharathi kannan takes care of direction.. The film's success or
demise might depend on Naasar and his great acting capabilities!!..
***Amman Koil Vaasaalile.. Ramarajan's chance to prove his great
directing skills.. after a very long break.. comes via this film!..
Sangita (Sarigamapadhanee) and Rajshri (Karuthamma) will star with
Karikaalan, Ponnvannan, Santhaana Bharathi, Manivannan, Peyiaardhaasan,
all star.. and Sirpi composes music for 7 songs.. Ramarajan stars and
directs the film!.. London-oda pottal kaadu locations nalla potti
podumaa?..
***Meendum Saavithri.. Revathi, Saranya, Raghuvaran, Ramesh Arvind,
Jayaganesh, Nagesh, Visu all star.. Music by Ravi Devendran and direction
by Visu!.. Based on the thodar kadhai of the same name that Visu wrote
for Anandha Vikatan!.. Produced by Naagireddy!..
***Devaraagam.. Arvind Swamy and Sridevi, Ravali star.. Sridevi's
comeback film in Tamil, even thought she claims that she isn't going to
act in Tamil again after this!!.. Direction by Bharathan!!.. Music: only
the lord knows! Possibly Ilaiyarajaa?!..
***Idhai thavira.. Pavithran's "Kaloori Vaasal" with Ajeethkumar,
Prasanth, Pooja Bhatt and Devayaani star.. Deva music.. stands a chance
for release.. Along with this, Aabaavanan's "Karuppu Roja" possibly
starring Arun pandian, Kushboo and Raadhika, Music by M.S.V. Raja.. a
film done completely by efforts of film students and those closely
affliated with Aabaavaannan.. Possibly, Karthik and Rambha starrer
"Ulladhai Allithaa".. Direction by C.Sundhar.. Music by Sirpi...
might hit the screens!!.. Vijaykanth's "Thayagam" in which Ranjitha,
Rajshri (Karuthamma) and Napolean co-star also stands a good chance for
release this Pongal..
