All through the seventies, eighties, and now nineties, Tamizh
films have been exemplary in maintaining our Panbaadu. Visu,
Bhagyaraj, Balachander... the greatest directors of Thai Tamil
Nadu without exception have upheld the position of women so
well during these difficult times. Movie after movie, Tamizh
women never failed to fall in love with the men after a sound
beating. Visu, aha, the unwavering critic of women's
liberation! What a resounding slap that Madhubaala got when
she expressed her love for Mammootti in Balachander's
Azhaghan. And of course, she deservedly got one again from
Arjun in Gentleman for writing his name on the appalam. Did
these Mangayar Thilakam' love for their heros wane a bit for
these sweet slaps that they received. No, on the contrary.
Vaazhga Tamizh Pa(e)nnb(p)aadu! Thanks to all these guardians of
our tradition and culture, Bharathiyaar's bad influence on the
women of Thamizh Naadu has been kept from doing much damage.
Has any other regional filmdom so steadfatly upheld the
heritage of Indian women?
Of course another way to make a woman fall in love with you is
to physically fall on her. Constant harassment eventaully
makes LOVE blossom.
Words like makku and mandu are terms of endearment. But caution!
One Way traffic.

huh! words of wisom from balachandar! thanga thamizh thaimaargale,
sakhodarihale, don't expect the veli's to be punished for their behavior.
and don't dare to take law into u'r hands and cut the veli down (a la
lorena bobbit style, grrhhh) either. and losing u'r karpu, it is an
irrepairable, unforgivable, unforgettable, big time sin. forget that u were
raped. die... die... of shame, just as scores of tamizh heroines have done:(
