"Chittiraikku mele selai katta aasai"....
(I hope I read it right)
CAn someone please explain its meaning?
Tnanks,
Surendran
It was a mistake and I think someone corrected in a later
posting. It should have been,
"Chittirathu mele selai katta aasai.."
which, I think, has a quite straight forward meaning.

siRRidaikku mElE sElai katta aasai!
aasai-desire
siRRidai=slender waist
I desire to wrap a saree around my slender waist.
Kathiravan
I went and heard the song over and over again and I am positive
that the song is indeed,
"chittirathu mele selai katta aasai"
Dr.Kathiravan's words might be more appropriate but they not
there in the song.
Srikanth.
I heard the song, and
"chiththiraikku mElE sElai katta aasai"
is correct.
Meaning:
--------
chiththirai = the tamil month 'chiththirai'
mElE = piRaku (after).
[example: "mElE enna nadanthathu?" = "piRaku enna nadanthathu?"]
So, the line means "chiththiraikkup piRaku sElai katta aasai".
The song is about the wishes of Roja, a young woman still in
her 'thavaNi' and she wish to wear 'sElai' after the tamil month
'chiththirai' (which is the first month of Tamil year). It is
like saying, "aduththa varudam piranthathum sElai katta aasai".
