Chinese save few out of a billion = little concrete benefits
Chinese asking for Japanese help = huge loss of face :)
Why do you always get it wrong? Even tiny Singapore has sniffer dogs,
robots and listening devices to detect people buried in rubble. But
the biggest problem with collapsed buildings is working against time
to cut and remove the huge concrete slaps without causing a cave-in on
the people below.
Wakalukong
The jap rescue team already left for Sichuan yesterday.
A tremendous number of people are still under rubble, China should
accept rescues teams from other countries. Otherwise, it's nothing
more than standing by, doing nothing and letting those people die.
A Japanese rescue team has left for China and a second one is
preparing to go. Your loss of face theory is kindergarten guesswork.
Wakalukong
Good to hear that. Hopefully the training and expertise of the
Japanese teams, Taiwanese teams, ..., will help the rescue work in
this critical time.
And yet, the CCP asked the Japanese for help. And I say, "Better late than
never."

You think like an American black, Jim. Why is that?
The Chinese never asked anyone for help. Most every nation offered
help, and the Chinese turned them ALL down, then reluctantly said
"send money" but not people. They're even taking a risk by letting
Japanese in. They only accepted one of the Japanese offers, they
didn't ASK them for help.
At 1 1/3rd billion people, there are already enough people in China
to do the job.
Chinese are a very different RACE, not like American blacks who sit
around waiting to be bailed out by other RACES.
wak, I guarandam.tee you that to an Asian there is no "theory" about
loss of face, something I'm positive you'll never grasp.
If you're wondering why the Chinese don't want OUR help, just think
about what happened to the last two guys we sent "help" to:
1) Osama bin Ladin, we sent him $4 billion GRATIS to help in
Afghanistan, because he was such a swell guy.
2) Saddam Hussein, we sent him $4 billion GRATIS too, because we
considered him to be such a promising leader.
With friends like us, the Chinese don't need enemas.
Besides, China has a huge fifth column within those 1,3 billion that
are only too willing to tear China apart and let others take over
China.

The Jap team were useless...they did not save any of
the almost 1000 school kids trapped in the ruins.
They did not save any of the 10,000 who died in the epic
centre.
What use is the Jap team.....to appear good in Jap
TV...being beamed home to Japan.
Japan is milking TV coverage, exploiting the tragedy in
China. How inhumane !
Rescue teams are most effective in the first 36 hours. After that
people die from their injuries from shock. A few lucky ones who may
be trapped in building voids and the not too badly injured may survive
up to a week or maybe longer. Voids means large slabs of concrete
leaning against something to leave some space. The "great" media
stories are the rescue of these few lucky ones. These rescues of
course provide photogenic opportunities of superbly equipped S&R teams
with their fancy equipment.
The damage was massive and widespread. Time was the essence and rescue
teams had to work immediately and round the clock. There was no time
to allow in pretty foreigners in their uniforms with their fancy
equipment. You can picture the effort required to fly in foreigners
and a van full of their equipment. Then you have to provide
translators, brief and direct them, feed and house them. Heck. Such
teams would be more trouble than they are worth. But the international
pressure to participate in the rescue was strident. For the sake of
public relations China had to "accept" their help. Leave it at that.
With a 8 richter scale (revised upward from 7.8) concrete pulverises
and there won't be much of anything left standing. And if you look at
the pictures there isn't much left of anything that will create voids
in which to search for lucky survivors. So don't blame the Japanese
team for lack of success.
Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richter_scale
for a good idea of what the Richter scale means. The table below
neatly summarizes the damage caused. Always remember that 8.0
releases TEN TIMES more energy than a 7.0. It is not one unit more
and it is not double the damage.
Richter Magnitudes Description Earthquake Effects Frequency of
Occurrence
Less than 2.0 Micro Microearthquakes, not felt. About 8,000 per day
2.0-2.9 Minor Generally not felt, but recorded. About 1,000 per day
3.0-3.9 Minor Often felt, but rarely causes damage. 49,000 per year
(est.)
4.0-4.9 Light Noticeable shaking of indoor items, rattling noises.
Significant damage unlikely. 6,200 per year (est.)
5.0-5.9 Moderate Can cause major damage to poorly constructed
buildings over small regions. At most slight damage to well-designed
buildings. 800 per year
6.0-6.9 Strong Can be destructive in areas up to about 160 kilometres
(100 mi) across in populated areas. 120 per year
7.0-7.9 Major Can cause serious damage over larger areas. 18 per year
8.0-8.9 Great Can cause serious damage in areas several hundred miles
across. 1 per year
9.0-9.9 Great Devastating in areas several thousand miles across.
1 per 20 years
10.0+ Epic Never recorded; see below for equivalent seismic energy
yield.
Extremely rare (Unknown)
(Based on U.S. Geological Survey documents.)

The Japanese team was ready to go the moment the earthquake happened. They
waited and waited for permission. They could have been onsite in a matter of
hours.
They did miracle work in Taiwan, 9/21/1999. It was a shame and a tragedy they
were blocked by the CCP.

They were invited in too late. (Your numbers are faulty, but I won't bother
to correct them.)
Then, what is the use of sending the Jap team after so many
days.
It is only good for show on TV .
Who invited them ?
Your so-called fifth-column could be bigger than the entire population
of the US and STILL represent a teeny wheeny minority of less than 9%.
When Bush no longer has to borrow money from China to bomb Iraq [and
perhaps Iran] come back and tell us some more of your "theories" about
China's economy. Until then, if we don't change our course, the ONE
thing you can count on is that your descendants will be OWNED by
China.
Good on TV - Japan as well as China !
If China don't need them, as well as teams from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan,
Korea etc, China would not have seek help from them. It does not means that
those already dead need not be found. The family still want to recover the
bodies of their deceased family members.
If they failed to save lives...what is their use ?
They are absolutely USELESS !
Recover bodies???...you mean China are unable to recover
the body ??
ha ha ha ha
Of course the Chinese can do it themselves.
Another pair of hands is better than none !
> .you mean China are unable to recover the body ??
>
> ha ha ha ha
you have a strange, even bizarre, sense of what is comical.
The leaders of the Chinese Communist Party.
Well, blame the CCP. They delayed the invitation until it was too late. The
Japanese experts went anyway, hoping to do good. They were understandably
bitter about the lost opportunity to save lives.
So would the Chinese people be, if they had access to this news.
You lied.
You are a liar.

Published May 16, 2008:
With the death toll from this week's earthquake rising rapidly, China made a
sharp departure from past diplomatic practice on Thursday, seeking disaster
relief experts and heavy equipment needed for rescue operations from
neighbors it has long shunned as rivals or renegades.
Officials asked a longtime rival, Japan, to send 60 earthquake rescue
experts, the first such team it has taken from a foreign country during the
current crisis and one of the few relief missions China has ever accepted
from abroad. They also accepted help from two private rescue teams from
Taiwan, the self-governing island with which China has long had tense
relations.

I trust you will now accept the proof and apologize (sarcasm alert).
The beagle doesn't like to apologize because he is wrong so often...
Where does it said "The leaders of the Chinese Communist Party"
invited them.
I hope you know... "The leaders of the Chinese Communist Party"
is not China.
You are wrong...
You are describing yourself.
I am not like you..wrong OFTEN.
ha ha ha ha
Who rules China if not the "leaders of the Chinese Communist Party"?
Who makes the decisions if not them?
Still waiting for you to acknowledge you were wrong.
> Who rules China if not the "leaders of the Chinese Communist Party"?
China is a nation, a country. Leaders of the CCP are NOT china.
Don't try to confuse the issue.
If you had said, China invited them, then I wouldn't have
challenged you.
Show proof , as you claimed, that ""The leaders of the Chinese
Communist Party" invited the Japanese.
You cannot!?
Then you are a liar...
Now you try to twist and dance..
you are a scum bag.
Who rules China if not the leaders of the CCP?

I didn't.
