Somali people seems to be having a bad reputation in Scandinavia and
what is so sad they don't understand why even if they are aware of what
they are doing. The worst part is every somalian person has to pay for
the bad reputation in one way or the other which is quite unfair.
It's ashame to even put into words what these people are capable of
doing.Sometimes I never stop wondering who ever cursed us.

Dear sister Halimo

>Somali people seems to be having a bad reputation in Scandinavia and

Marka dadka suuqa shaqada laga saaro sannooyin badab sida dadkeena
wadamadan jooga ay ku dhacday, waxaa ka dhunta qofka mar-mar kartida ahayd
inuu wax qabsado, haddii xili xun lagalayna inuu wax barto, si markii
shaqo soo baxdo uu aqoon ku dagaal galo ama waddankeena markaan
u laabano ay noo anfacdo.

-Waxaa jira in aan dad badan talo siino sida waddankan Swidhan
in ay iskoolada galaan xirfadna bartaan ay ku shaqaystaan.
Kuwii Soomaaliya waxbarasho sare soo dhamaystayna waxaan ku dhiiro
galinaa inay sii wataan.

Tirada dadka aan shaqo haysanin aad bay u badan tahay sidoo kale
dadka aan iskoolna dhiganin, taas waxay keentay inaan bulshadan
culays ku noqonay.
"Meeshan waxaan dareemayaa inaan dalxiise ku ahay inkastoon joogay
muddo sideed sano ah" ayuu igu yiri inan soomaaliyeed oo 28 sanno jiro.

Xalka waa inaan annaga raadino, wareegii koowaad waa nalaga badiyey,
laakiin dhawr wareeg ayaa dhimman kaas oo loo baahan yahay inaan
guntiga dhiisha isaga dhigno

Waad mahad santahay

Sisters,

Your points are well taken. Our reputation is tarnished in a big scale without
question. But the question remains by whom is behind this cultural carnage?.

Simply we can accuse on the host countries and its racist establishment, but
that is not only enough. We should check seriously beyond our rhetoric cries.

Recently, I began to follow some of Somali succeses in USA and eleswhere and I
found this pardox.

Let we take MidWest a simple Module of this tranish Image. Since many young
Somalis move to midwest in the early 90's to work meat industies I found the
social consciousness let alone islamic sensibility was falling brick by brick.
The first wave of Somalis move to Marshall village near MN where their
ignorance about American labour market make them to believe that this is the
only place to sell their limited skills and make a living. Once the sales
department of these food industries analysis the nature of these naive people
they projected a big profit on the nerve of these nomads. They hired to these
firms around hundred Somalis into production lines.

How it was surprise to many young Somalis when they learn the capacitiy of each
factory was over 16 thousand cows per day and they were required to clean up
the back yard of these factories before dawn.. Thinking behind refugee camps
and the love ones who are still stranded there they fought hard to meet the new
environment requirement.

Once they got their pay checks they began to call other fellow Somalis from
other States to what they thought the fortune of life. The core of their
message was, " you can work while afadaada ay collect gareyn karto caydha". All
over sudden, the Somalis poured from all over America to MN. The fanaanis,
oriented business, garab rarato, single mothers, single fathers, gangs, honest
people etc all began a new journey into wild winterland.

Within a year the population of this community jump from few hundreds to 2000
people. And ever since the number of Somalis is growing bigger and bigger.

Although they were in disadvantage position, the first wave of Somali
immigrints to MN was hard working, dedicated, won the respect of the American
labour maket.

Today, thinks has began to change. Two gang group was formed in Cedar/Portland
residential area where police registered them as a dangerous and voilence to
public safety. Moreover, the Police began to label Somalis drug dealers as
well as all other social ills that exist in the American streets.

Many factories has began to shy away or down size hiring Somalis because of
their lack comment of long term in the work place.

Somali women in welfare offices was humilated becuase of the mindset of many
irresponsible husbands who forced them to unthinkable notions.

The situation is getting worse due to new immigrants by chance whom are adding
the wounds of Somalis less pious flavors.

Overall, the internal factors also deserve to blame to our decaying reputation
in everywhere.

PS. The hardworking, God fearing community in MN knows they're not intended in
this call.

MR Ina Da'ud while it is true that some somali kids took to gang life style,
by far the majority are hard working people.
There about 12000 somalis living in MN now ,and less than 4% of them are on
welfare which makes somalis in Minesota one of the most self sufficient
immigrant groups. I just thought i would give you some facts. thanks from
bloomington MN.

Mr DShikali,

You got me. You're right. Over all the majority is doing well although I've
serious doubt the sustainibility of this rosy picture in long term.

Thank you for you feed back.
