So far so good !!
With an exception that some of these people are also highly
controversial.

Hold on! hold on! Your majesty QabiilDiid.
Why on earth do you lamb these two people together ?
Putting side on side a shameful, nasty dictator ( the above number 5 )
who misruled, mismaneged and ultimately ruined his very own self, that
of his blind supporters and the whole country AND a fine, decent and
genius poet ( Hadraawi ) makes me worry about the state of your mind
my dear friend QabiilDiid!! What went wrong? Did you have little sleep
lately or is it the Mbagathi peace confrence that is taking it's toll
on you ? Whatever the case, the above seemingly strange association
begs for clarification. We are grateful for some further explanation .
On another unrelated matter:
While cruising the net, I came across one of your postings inviting
the cyber-folks to visit this newsgroup (SCS). It seems to me that a
lot of people do in fact shy away from the USENET discussion groups.
The reason for that could very much be the accessibility (or rather
the lack of it) of the USENET itself. As you know, accessing the sites
of the World Wide Web is pretty simple and straightforward. You only
need a web-browser and click you go ! In USENET though, things are not
that user/newbie-friendly. So perhaps someone has to offer some sort
of FAQ (frequently asked questions) about the subject in somali and
hope that this will lead to better-frequented SCS.
That is all for now, thanks and see ya later !

Hadraawi has always been my favourite poet, and his current peace
march is the stuff that heros and role models are made of indeed.
By the way, and in no way surprising given the staggering amounts of
ideas that were exchanged in this cave, that this very idea of Somali
artists marching for peace all aver somalia was once proposed by one
caver: Haybe of Helsinki, Finland (aka xubeerka Cal Madow).

It is a pleasure to talk to you. You are amongst the giants of this
dignified forum. Unlike some old cavers who were void of logic, you
are the voices of reason and insults are not the tools of your trade.
It is nice to know your comments about Hadraawi is diagonally opposed
to what so-called editors wrote on somalicity.com.
We are prepared to defend our position that His Excellence late
Mohamed Siyad Bare (May he drinks from the wells of Furdowsa) is a
truly Somali national hero. To stress we are on solid ground on this
one, we urge you and every other clanfree Somali to organize steps to
bring Siyad Bare's remains home and give him proper national burial.
Somalia was Siyad Bare and Siyad Bare was Somalia. If you want Somalia
back show respect to Siyad Bare. Absolutely this will make Somali
enemies duck for cover and make Somalis grow out of the quagmire of
misinformation and character assassination imposed to them by the old
and new imperialists.
Sorry for lumping you together, guys. It is not like the old days
where we had enough time for everything

First of all thank you for your encouraging words.
Back in the first half of the 90's, I used to check out this
newsgroup occasionally. I must admit, I was turned off by what
I have encountered i.e a lot of abusive shouting and counter-
shouting. It looked like the place was full of people who were
gesticulating with more duggers than they could handle, ready
to stampede on anyone who crossed their way. So I said to myself
hands off ! And I decided to refrain from any involvement. To be
clear, I have nothing against people getting emotional when they
want to make a point on matter that is dear to them, only that
when things get out of control, there is a possibility of offending
other readers. Some people often forget the fact that they aren't
locked up in a room with their opponents, for USENET is a world
wide happening. Anyway, Perhabs because of my dicission at the
time, I missed some interesting discussions or even some sort of
shakespearean dramas. Who knows!
My active involvment started in year 2000 at the outset of
Dijibouti peace confrence for Somalia. So much was at stake then,
that I felt I had to express my opinion and hence I threw my hat
into the ring. I must also admit that I don't regret my decision
to be part of this very usefull forum.
So much in a personal note about SCS, which observes one of these
days it's 10th anniversary.
As for late Mohamed Siad Barre, I guess everybody is entitled to
his/her opinion whether this man was a monster or messias(the savior
of somalia). But I also believe that somewhere in the future, when
all dust has settled and the somali nation is back on track, will
the historians of the day judge him.
Till then, may he rest in peace !
Cheers !
