Somali people. I beleive that Mudane Deeq has done a great service to the
Somali community here in the cave. I would loved if Mudane Deeq publish
the whole series and engage scientific research of the data necessary to
complete the "silsilada". It is part of our history and who we are! It
has to be a lesson.

Here is my response. Categorization is a process of identying individuals
or persons as members of social group because of one's birth (identity,
that's, clan). Often people think that categorizations are bad for
society. However, as humans we categorize everything we do! For example,
Chairs, Cars, Furnature, and Humans.
Chairs we categorize easy boys, sofas, kitchen chairs, desks etc. Cars we
categorize trucks, vans etc. Furnatures we categorize tables, Sofas etc.
Humans we categorize males and females. We also categorize males and
females as infants, children, and adults. We almost always categorize
everything we do. Somali literature is part of us and the way we think as
Somalis and as humans. Studying and analysis it would enhance our future
interactions and so forth.
These categorizations has positive and negative aspects. For the positive
side, it provides knowledge and helps us master our environment. It also
provides clear expectations and informations about our environment.
Moreover, it allows us to function efficiently while ignoring unimportant
informations and focusing on important ones. Of course, there are
negatives of the these categorizations as it refers to humans (our clans).
It leds to racism and bigorty. Once we start putting people into
categorizes we get discrimination-as our Society have learnt it in the
hard way. Also categorizations allows exceggerations between clans. These
doesn't meant we cannot study our history whether it be positive or
negative-You see, the purpose of studies are to gain insight knowledge
about a subject that interestes you. Somali "Gabay" has a market of its
own. It would be a hit and best seller book if "Guba" is published. The
right man to do is Dek Diriyi as we have witnessed his objectivity of
educating, informing and entertaining the readers here in the cave and
elsewhere. To discourage him is disservice to Somali readers and academia.
We must start the journey of writing about our history objectively. Dek
could take an important role in this journey. We should also encourage
others to do so but not to disappointment.
