Call for Scottish 'Walk of Fame'

A Hollywood-style walk of fame was suggested for Scotland
Scotland should mark its cultural successes with a Hollywood-style walk of
fame, an MSP has claimed.

South of Scotland MSP Aileen Campbell called for the establishment of a
'Scottish Walk of Fame'.

She said artists and cultural stars such as John Byrne, Robbie Coltrane and
Irvine Welsh could be honoured either with plaques or a star on the street.

Ms Campbell, an SNP MSP, has written to Culture Minister Fiona Hyslop
suggesting the idea.

She said: "Scotland has made a huge contribution to the world and it is only
right that we celebrate the success Scots have achieved at home and abroad.

"A 'Scottish Walk of Fame' could showcase these sons and daughters of
Scotland and create an amazing cultural map of our country.

"Plaques could be placed around Scotland on buildings or streets in places
of significance to the recipient, or gathered on the major streets of
Scotland's towns and city's like the Royal Mile or Sauchiehall Street. Just
like the walk of fame in Hollywood."

Sounds like a good idea. A cultural blowtorch like SCS should have its own
concrete paving slab somewhere for posters' pawprints.

Can't they come up with something original instead of just imitating
another country?

I thought the bite marks suggestion was pretty unique.

What about a "Walk of Shame" chronicling all the unionist politicians
that have kept Scotland down over the years?
