Does anyone remember the old Scottish TV show, Glen Michael's Cartoon
cavalcade? It was the one hosted by the old fellow who spoke to a lamp
(paladin) and a dog (rusty), in between screening dodgy old cartoons.
He may have splashed out on a very rubbishy robot at some point too,
to get the ratings in (worked for me at the time).

As far as I know, it was screened through the seventies and eighties,
and may have survived as far as 1993.

Does anyone have any interesting memories of this show, or the live
version? Glen must have visted every flea pit venue and primary school
in the country with his bag full of STV sew on patches and annuals
(the usual prizes for the little games he put on). If you ask any
Scottish person over the age of 18 if they've met a celebrity, they
usually say "nah, except Glen Michael years ago".

More importantly, does anybody know where the great man is now? I
found out somewhere that he supports Ayr United. Maybe he lives there?
I'd love to buy him a pint and maybe interview him or something. It's
a disgrace that he has no online presence whatsoever, or much of a
presence these days at all.

Any info/memories at all would be much appreciated!

Some Glen info I have managed to dig up:

I met Glen Michael twice, and saw him taking a pee before a show once.
I am strangely proud of this.

Obviously a new poster who has immediately caught the spirit of scs,
either that or he's read the "Topics". This post captures exactly what
is required for : "Famous people I met in public toilets".

He lives Ayr/Alloway way.

Who said anything about public toilets?

"Famous people I met in public toilets" used to be a regular and
popular feature in scs as it's closely linked to the Scottish
lifestyle - people who drink a lot tend to pee a lot. This ups your
chances of standing next to someone famous while having a pee and
those who lived in Edinburgh had the best chance of winning, as lots
of "famous" people hang around Edinburgh toilets, especially (a
policeman once told me) ministers during the General Assembly.

"Guess which well-known cleric tried to grope me today!"
"You mean the Pope's attending the General Assembly?!!"

Hmmm. Well Wayne Sleep once made a pass at me, but it wasn't in a public
toilet - does that still count?

Nope, it has to be in a public toilet.

I've never heard of Wayne Sleep so I had to look him up. I was amused
to see that he lists one of his two hobbies (the other is cooking) as
"sleeping under the stars", which certainly would seem to confirm his
predilection for making passes at young English chaps of renown.

He's a great dancer and seemed to be a really nice guy - but not *that*
nice.
Well I have met quite a few well known gadgies over the years but none in a
public toilet that I recall.
Oh well.

I have also peed in the proximity of Gary Lewis (the baldy guy out of
Gangs of New York and Billy Elliot), and Martin Compston out of Sweet
Sixteen. Both were blootered out their minds and staggering about, and
thus the experience wasn't as satisfying as the Glen Michael one. He
was a very civilised type of urinator, and I have tried to follow his
example in my toilet habits since, such was the impact he had on me.

I hope to go to the bathroom with many more celebrities in the future,
and I'll be sure to note the experience here.

The thing that struck me was his height - very tall.
Then there was Fulton McKay. Would anybody admit to having Doogie Donallies autograph? (ie Sterling, Tillicoutrie near Stirling!)
