I am starting a class in Russian, and the instructor is having us
practice a lot of reading and writing in Cyrillic script, which
is quite different from the normal printed Cyrillic fonts (T and
P turn into m and n, for example.) Our textbook has some printed
material using the handwritten characters, and I would like to
be able to produce my own documents using the handwriting font.
After much searching on the web, I can't find any handwriting
fonts that serve my needs. There is a "Cyrillic Font Pack 1"
that has a nice selection of handwriting fonts, but it is a
commercial product and I wouldn't be able to share documents
with my classmates. There is also the free Pushkin font, modeled
after the handwriting of Pushkin himself:

http://www.paratype.ru/default.asp?page=http://www.paratype.ru/shop/free/default.asp
http://www.renderx.com/Tests/Pushkin.pdf
http://www.paratype.ru/ru/news/pushkin_sample.htm

This is closer to what I want, but I need the basic handwriting
font without the artistic embellishments.

I have a nagging suspicion that these fonts exist, but that they
are buried in Russian language sites, and my Russian ability is
much too weak to find them by searching in Russian.

If anyone could point me to a free Cyrillic handwriting font,
I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks alot!

Lester

Here's a huge collection of free Cyrillic fonts - but you'll have to
download them all and look at each one to see if it meets your needs.
http://www.d-s.ru/rus/madein/

There's another site that had an excellent collection - I'll try to find
it again ..

OK Here's a GOOD link for free Cyrillic fonts -
http://home.onego.ru/~diai/
Many different varieties - Decorative, Script (handwriting), and more

Click on the "script" button. (Then click on the "script" box or the
sample to download)
Or, directly to the script font at
http://home.onego.ru/~diai/index_script.htm

Hi,

In addition to the Kursiv95 font from
http://home.onego.ru/~diai/index_script.htm mentioned in the other
reply, here are some more handwriting fonts:
- free font Festus - http://vedi.d-s.ru/fonts/ffont.htm
(but IMHO, it's no so good looking as Kursiv95)
- commercial fonts by N.Sirotkin - $7. May be, because it's
a commercial font, it's a better quality font...
You wrote about sharing a commercial font -

but I guess, if you write to N.Sirotkin, he will tell you that
you _can_ share them.
He offers two such fonts:
- Billiard - http://vedi.d-s.ru/fonts/bfont.htm
- Mini - http://vedi.d-s.ru/fonts/mfont.htm
