Hello,

I wish to relate a recent experience I had and would appreciate any
comments you may have. I was chatting online with a woman for approx.
2.5 hours the other day. We talked about everything, got along
splendidly and found that we had alot of interests in common. She
also mentioned that she was from Romania. Near the end of our
conversation I really felt like we connected. Since, I travel
frequently to Europe I mentioned to her that I would really like to
meet her and her response was very favorable. She gave me her full
name and contact information including phone number. Before going
further I want to say that my intentions were simply to meet someone
new and interesting and possibly develop a friendship with her, as
well as have some adventure along the way. I am by no means some kind
of playboy or gigolo who goes around hitting on women and I felt I
presented myself to her as a good person. Anyways, I told her I would
contact her the following day and she said ok so we setup a time for
which I would call. Before I left I verified that the phone number
she gave me was correct and she said it was. When I called I received
a message of something like "the number is not in service". I tried 2
more times and received the same message. So I called the operator
and she verified that the number did not exist.

I mentioned this to some friends a couple of days later and one of
them mentioned that alot of women from the former Soviet Bloc
countries go online with the hopes of finding someone who will take
them away from their impoverished conditions at home. So he suggested
it's possible I just met one of these women and that this has probably
happened frequently in the past with her. At first I did not want to
believe it since, as I've said, we spent quite a length of time
chatting and she seemed so sincere. But now I think he was probably
correct. My question is, is this in fact a fairly common occurence ?

Thanks for any input.

Maybe she does not want to be found. Don't flatter yourself
by thinking that all the Romanian women's are crazy to meet a foreigner.
Maybe she was just looking for somebody to chat with.
What would you do if an American women gave you a bogus number , report her
to FBI ?
