medication or drugs or if they are mentally ill. A well trained police officer
does not beat to death anyone who makes comments he does not like during an
arrest.And police are not above the law to kill anyone simply because they do
not like what he said or did.And to say that the Mr.Vass in question somehow
DESERVED to be beaten to death is no more deserving that a high school student
taking a knife and stabbing another student because they cut in front of the
line while returning books which happened in my sons school just last week.With
assumptions like the writer wrote that the victim somehow deserved to be killed
for pissing off the officers in question...makes anyone fear for their lives in
Toronto. God forbid that you should get a ticket and the policeman who stopped
you did not like your face or your nationality, or race and decided to beat you
to death with impunity.To me it seems a bit strange that it took six young
healthy and obviously in good physical condition police officers to subdue one
erratic mentally ill or possibly suffering from a medical condition (diabetics
often exhibit drunken behavior before lapsing into a diabetic coma unless help
is given) elderly gentleman is very strange indeed.I am sure that there is more
to this story from both sides, but whatever the case if this gentleman was not
of Hungarian origin no mention of him would be in this newsgroup.

like. If Fredy tells anyone to go to hell or makes a remark they do not like
then do they have the right to kill him? Is that self preservation?Or if he cuts
someone off in traffic does that person have a right to kill him because they
did not like what he did? Is that also self preservation?If in the same
situation it happened to be his teenage son who mouthed off a police officer do
they have the right to beat him to death? Would that be self preservation?
I was under the misconception that self preservation had to do with fear of your
life in a life and death situation, which in the case of Mr.Vass it was perhaps
the reverse. Using Fredy's logic then Mr. Vass had the right to beat the police
officers to death as they were forcibly detaining him against HIS will.
What has happened in Mr.Vass's situation is happening all to frequently and
policemen should not be above the law if they are responsible for wrongfully
inflicting death. And I question the mental state of any officer who would beat
a citizen to death for voicing their opinions about anything. The first place I
would look at is the police department and their policies. Police are public
servants they are not automatically above the law. If for any reason Fredy
called a policeman a pig to his face in anger or whatever, maybe getting a
ticket he did not feel he deserved...would that police office have a right to
take his gun out and shoot him in the face....as a self preservation for having
his feelings hurt by someone calling him names??
Get real here Fredy...or else stay home out of the public eye as anyone can take
anything you say as a threat to THEIR self-preservation.....and might think YOU
would have it coming to you also.And I am sure there are quite a few nuts on the
internet who might take offense at you for YOUR opinions. It happens everyday,
just as it did to the newspaper columnist a week ago for daring to print the
truth someone did not like...and decide it was in their self preserving interest
to shoot the poor man in the back. Comments such as yours were not thought out
but a knee jerk reaction to a situation you know nothing about personally.I am
confident that during the course of your life you might have said or voiced your
opinions and even made a few remarks in anger....what if someone beat you to
death for that? Would it be then acceptable and deemed SELF-preservation, or
should it have been EGOpreservation.?Whatever the reason murdering someone or
beating them to death for a comment or insult is not how civilized people behave
and those who condone such barbaric attitudes should be kept a close eye on for
who know what they are capable of in a similar situation.

Or played video games like Kingpin etc. or rented any movies lately.Saying such
comments as suck anything might make a nun blush but I doubt if it would enrage all
those policemen to beat the crap out of anyone...they've probably heard worse. There
is more to this situation than all this speculation of cause and effect, and more as
an alert to social behavior and what is acceptable and accountable and what is not.If
Mr. Vass was black everyone would say it was racially motivated etc.and if that were
the case what would have been Fredy's comment?
