I thought i should post my favourite Punajbi songs from England and top ten
Punjabi songs which the people back in Punjab listen to.

I am not really a big fan of the stuff that comes straight out of Punjab, i onlystarted listening to it when i went early this year, i prefer the England stuff.

Its good to see a few new Canadian bands coming up (Jazzy B is the only one
i heard of yet) but they still got a lot of catching up to do with their
England conuterparts, I thought Jazzy B sounds too much like he is straight out
of Punjab, he hasnt got the baarle vaaliahn dee vaaj , if you know what i mean.

Anyway this is the list of my favourite Engalnd Stuff.

1. The Boys Boliyan -- Safri Boys
I just cant get enough of this song ever since
i heard it. Safri Boys are one of the best
newcomers in my opinion.(Better than that
crappy Punjabi MC).

2. Oh Yaar Kaun Nachdi -- Heera
From the hugely successful diamonds from Heera
album. But Heera are just no good anymore.

3. Bhabiye Akh Lar Gayee
Bille Mundey de naal -- Pardesi
I have always liked Pardesi they are one
of my favourite bands.

4. Soho Rd Utte -- Apna Sangeet
I like this band as well, thier music is good.
Pity that they split up now.

5. Boliyaan -- A.S. Kang.
I like the lyrics to this song they made me
laugh. I like this guys voice.Even though he's
a bit old now.

6. Kach Vargee Muttiaar -- Pardesi
Great song a bit of bomb the bass in it.

7. Putt Jattan De -- Pardesi
A lot of people have sung this song. I like this
version the best.

8. Nachdee Dee Gutt Khul Gayee -- Premi

9. Lag Jaan de -- D.C.S.
I dont like this group that much just this song.

10. Pini Pini Pini aa Sharaab -- Azaad. Not a bad group. Few of their songs
just missed out.

This is the Indian Punjabi Top ten

1. G.T. Uttey Duhaiyan Paave -- Kuldip Manak
This song comes in the film Lambardarnee.

2. Mitraahn Noo Maar Geya -- Sardul SIkander
This is a good song to do Bhangra to.

3. Ghaala Maala -- Surjit Bindrakhia
One of the few songs i like from this guy.
Proabably the top Punjabi singer right now.

4. Nachi Jo Saade Naal -- Hans Raj Hans.

5. Khatta Doriaa -- ??????
Good song but i dont know the guy who sings it.

6. Tor Punjaban Dee -- Sardul Sikander
I heard this song at a Kabaddi match , liked
it ever since.

7. Punjabiye Zabane -- Gurdaas Mann
Not a song you can dance to , just one you
listen to when relaxing.

8. Kamlee Yaar dee Kamlee -- Gurdass Mann
Lot of version to this song also i like this one
` the best.

9. Satt Rang daa Lishkara -- Manmohan Waris

10. Dil daa Maamlaa Hai -- Gurdaass Mann

Well there's my 2 lists. Please add to it if u want to or make comments on
it. Not enough people talk about bhangra on this newsgroup, come one get your
replies goiing.

P.S . Quit listening to the Hindi winpy crap, get back to the real stuff.

You left out 'Jugni', which has got to be the best bhangra song ever.

What about:

1) Putt Sardaran De, by Safri.
2) Bas Kar, by Surjit Bindrakhia
3) Hit Geetan Da Guldasta, by Surjit Bindrakhia
4) Dupatta Tera Satrang Da, again by Bindrakhia
5) Any Boliyan out there, especially by the following:

Santara, Bittu, Aaina, K.S. Bhamra, Malkit Singh, Sahara, Shaktee, Shinda,
Aag, SATRANG (the best boliyan ever), XLNC. Basically, you can't go wrong
with a boliyan.

As for the song Bhabiye Aakh Lar Gayee, Bille Munde De Nal, there's an
INCREDIBLE remix of it on the album Howz You Like It!, by Midland Boyz II
Men. Also a great Balbeero Bhabhi remix.

Mirza Jatt is a great song, regardless of who sings it.

I like the stuff from England best, too, but I think it's past its heyday.
From 91-94, the best stuff came out from the British bhangra bands,
equal to any popular music, of any culture, anywhere. But the last two
years have not been that good. And I hate it when the music is too
westernised, or if rap music is mixed in too much, or if there's too much
English lyrics. The best is still an electric, loud, but traditional
"dhol and tumbi" sound, like the five bhangra giants did on the album The
Hit Men. Best album of this year. I did like Grass Roots by Panjabi M.C
a lot though. That kind of traditional sound, like on Jugni and Jindi
Mahi, is great.

Stuff from punjab can be good, especially if it's like the above two
songs, but a lot is not. Canada has a ways to go.

By the way, I'm not even Punjabi, I'm actually a Hindi-speaker, but you're
right, our Hindi music can be too wimpy sometimes. A lot is excellent.
Lyrically, if you can understand Hindi (shouldn't be too hard if you know
Punjabi), they can be beautiful, expressing far more than most English
songs can. But I've been a huge bhangra fan for about three years.

good! The songs are a GREAT combination of Punjabi & Reggae. My 2 cents.
