A day that will live in infamy. We join ourselves in solidarity and prayer
with all the victims of the dastardly, cowardly terrorist attacks
perpetrated today in New York City, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania. We
categorically condemn the Anti-American hatred and fanaticism that fueled
it. We demand that the full weight of our justice and, if necessary, our
full military might, fall upon the cowards responsible for these events.

I pray to God to comfort the victims, the survivors, and their families in
this hour. We remain optimistic, however, because we are a strong Nation
and we come together at times of need.

We shall overcome. We shall prevail. Life in these United States will go
on. We will emerge stronger than ever after we mourn our dead, clean the
streets, and punish the guilty. Of that I have no doubts. God Bless the
United States of America!

And now I go into self-imposed silence, until the anger seething within me
yields to new purpose and determination.

See what I mean? Anger even makes me write BADLY.

Careful, everybody, of what anger may move you to say. I already lashed out
elsewhere.

This is a fragment of something I read in another newsgroup -- it
represents my feeling:

>The whole world knows perfectly well the diversity of New York. Make
>no mistake; this cannot be seen as an attack upon any one American
>group. This attack was against all who share in the idea of America,
>against America at its best. And because America is proud to take the
>world unto itself, I believe that it was an attack against humanity at
>its best.
>
>Let us honor their lives by being more true than ever to our ideals.
