Quisiera aclarar que el Dalai Lama, representa al Tibet en sus justas causas políticas pero no es el líder maximo del budismo. El representa (si es que se puede decir así)una de las varias escuelas budistas, la de él es el budismo tibetiano. El es líder maximo del pueblo del Tibet y para los que practican el budismo que él representa.

El budismo en sí no tiene ningun líder como por ejemplo los católicos con el Papa. Asi que la parte que Rabin cita al Lama como líder maximo del mundo budista es incorrecto. Los budistas lo reconocen como una figura respetable y guía en la filosofía budista pero no un líder en el sentido que lo cita Rabin.

Esto lo menciono no como una critica a el apoyo que le de el Dalai Lama a Vieques, sino como aclaración de quien en realidad es él para el budismo.

Press Release

The struggle of the people of Vieques received an important message of support from the Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of Buddhism. The message came in response to a petition for support from Hector Rosario, a Puerto Rican graduate student at Dartmouth in New Hampshire in coordination with the Committee for the Rescue and Development of Vieques. The text of the short message reads as follows:

H.H. the Dalai Lama
MESSAGE
I am concerned by the terrible effects on people, animals and plants of Vieques, an island in the archipelago of Puerto Rico, as a result of the military exercises conducted on the island. I am told that because of the pollution from these military exercises the cancer rate in Vieques is much higher than on the main island. I therefore support the action of the people of Vieques in protesting against such military exercises.

May 8, 2000

This important message of solidarity from the maximum leader of the Buddhist world, adds to a long list of religious leaders representing all the spiritual tendencies that have expressed support for the struggle for peace on Vieques and for the action of all Puerto Ricans to end the military presence on the Island of Vieques.

Ricky practica el yoga y la cabala. Y en algo estamos de acuerdo Victor, de que Tibet debe ser un pais libre y el Dalai Lama ha tenido una gran lucha por liberar a su pais de la opresión de China.

Pero es un gran honor para nosotros dado su rol en la lucha de los Tibetanos por la libertad de su pais de la opresion y el genocidio praticado contra ellos por los Chinos.

Cuando fue que se convirtieron en imperialistas en el caso de Tibet? Recientemente, o cuando se metieron alli en el 1950?
