You will have a hard time living on that in Lima. A taxi ride will cost you 5
to 10 soles. At the conversion rate about $3 US. Do that a few times a day
and your money starts dwindling. Don't get me wrong, I really like Lima, but
when a hotel room in Barranco will cost you $60 US per night, I don't think
that $340 a month will get you far.

You can probably rent a small room in a house for $ 150-200. However
if you want a house or an apartment it will be very difficult. It is
difficult
to find apartments for rent in good locations. However, you can probably
at least double your salary if you in addition give private tutoring.
The best opportunities would be in the corporate segment, where you
can charge more per hour than in a college or university setting.

If you are interested, let me know, I have relatives in Peru and they
might be able to find a room to rent. Food is not expensive if you play
it simple. There are less expensive Menu alternatives for working
people where you can pay once a month. It is a matter of knowing where to
look.
You will eat well, home cooking is delicious in Peru, but it will not be too
fancy.
