The mutiny of BDR was no less than a national tragedy. Instead of
thinking and pondering over it collectively, the AL leadership has
started a blame game. Even if we accept for argument's sake that
Jamaat was inciting the BDR to revolt, what the leading party, in
power was doing. Why didn't it take preventive measures. Why an
anouncement of rise in wages and perquisites was not made in time? It
is no use blaming others for your own failures.
As a matter of fact, the party was busy in rewarding positions of
interest to party stalwarts and had no time to anticipate and obviate
national problems. When I see typical woman style of AL's government,
I really pity on the people of Bangladesh as I pitied on people of
Pakistan when BB was in power. All she did was to memorize a sentence
of Kamal Azfar," We are going to enter in the 21st century ", but
took no steps to actually prepare for the challenge of the new
millenium. In its past stints, AL did not give any new idea or motive
to the nation. All it had was the revival of the dead issue of trial
of so called "war crimes".
Many, if not most people, who had something to do with the war with
west pakistan are either dead or reached a very old age. What great
benefit will be acheived in trial and punishment of a few old and
invalid people? Instead of looking forward, it always looks
backwards, which is typical of a woman leadership. There were already
so many problems for the people, now global financial crunch has
unnerved any thinking person, the world over. What will happen to the
masses, who do not have fat purses or hefty bank balances? A crisis is
in the offing, but the dumb party heads give a damn to the coming
problems and are mindlessly busy in flogging a dead horse.
