The Indian economy is ten times as big so the Indians should
get $5m each , but there is a risk that Pakistanis will throw the
match and split the fee , so its better to stick to $1m each.
Its time Indian sportsmen were rewarded properly as they
generate so much advertising revenues

When you consider how well our cricketers are rewarded (by the
sponsorship money they earn thanks to their millions of adoring fans)
it is really surprising that you are suggesting that they deserve to
earn more. Yes, sportsmen from other fields (apart from cricket) do
deserve to earn much more but the cricketers are if anything overpaid.
Just to give you some idea, Not only does Tendulkar earn over 30
crores but Dravid too earns over 10 crores and possibly much more.
Dhoni is reputed to earn around 20 crores a year.

How much are they paid if they lose?

Not all 15 get sponsorship. If the BCCI earns hundreds of
millions each year from TV rights it can afford to reward each player
$1m for a world cup victory.

Another idiotic comment from someone who can't understand what is
written. The issue was about Indian cricketers earning more since they
generate SO MUCH ADVERTISING REVENUE. Since the issue is all about
money and that too coming from the advertising revenues the issue lies
within that. The Indian cricketers do earn a TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF
MONEY and they earn this huge amount mainly from advertising contracts
that they have, and they are the biggest beneficiaries due to such a
huge advertising revenue market.

In fact even if the Indian cricketers earned huge money INDIRECTLY
through the board (and lets say the board only benefitted from
advertising contracts done directly through the board) even then the
issue brought about above would be moot. Since the bottom line remains
that the Indian cricketers (at least the ones who are playing for
India) are earing huge amounts of money and are benefitting from this
huge advertising market. The fact that they are directly benefitting
from this huge advertising market makes the above comment really
stupid.

While I agree with this point and also agree that the true performers
do not get as much as some who have a bigger media image (Kumble vs
Ganguly) etc. This tragedy exists even in sports like tennis where the
sexy Anna Kournikova earned more than many other women tennis players
far better than her. I believe she had not even won one WTA title and
she was still earning millions. Maybe later on she won a title
somewhere but there was a time when she had not won a single title and
was earning millions and women who had won at least one grand slam
title and various other titles where making less than her. That was
sad to see but the reality of the media.

By the way I believe all 15 do have some sponsorship or the other.
Even Rohit Sharma who comes from a relatively poor family is today
moving in a luxury car. (Even before he played for India). The talent
scouts already picked him up and identified him as a future prospect.

The Indian cricketers ended up with $160,000 each . It should
have been ten times that.
