Subject: Police in India cut off a man's penis

NEW DELHI (UPI) -- Police in a remote part of northwesternIndia
allegedly cut off the penis of a man detained on charges of abductinga
girl, press reports said Thursday.
The severance of 22-year-old Jugta Ram's penis by the policelast
Saturday provoked angry protests among the people of Barmer, a small
town in Rajasthan. They demanded the arrest of the police officers, the
Indian Expressreported.
Ram, who is married, is recovering at a local hospital, the newspaper
said.
Doctors pin their hopes onsurgery to reattach the penis. The severed
organ is kept in a medicated solution at thehospital, the report said.
While the state government suspended five police officers andordered
an inquiry into the incident, the officers registered a
countersuitagainst Ram, the Express said.
The police said Ram tried to escape custody and attempted suicide by
severing his own organ, thereport said.

Jeez! this mania seems to be spreading in India too.
I thought this sick, despicable deed was a fad only in the US
of A and capable of being carried out by the ilk of Lorena and
her cheering hench girls at NOW. What is really frightening is the
potential for [mis]-inspiring the members of the fairer sex
into such acts for problems resolvable in any criminal or civil law
courts.
