Abba:

I have been on Naijanet long enough to observe time without number that
when a particular news item is TOO EMBARASSING for us to comment on as
Nigerians, we just IGNORE it and move on.

The news below is one of them, in which you have tried, in your inimitable
manner, to put a humorous spin on what is a sad, sad tale, to detract from
its sad sadness.

Going by all the money OFFICIALLY recovered, the daughter of a confirmed
thief, Zainab Abacha, is wedded to a confirmed thief, Bashir Dalhatu.
And who attends their wedding? The glitterati of Northern politics + one
reprobate Southerner? For emphasis, let me list them out as reported
below:

"Dignitaries who attended the wedding include:"

1. the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero,
2, 3, 4 executive governors of Kano, Jigawa, Borno, Dr. Rabi'u Musa
Kwankwaso, Alhaji Ibrahim Sanusi Turaki and Alhaji Mala Kachalla,
respectively.
5 former Secretary to the Government ofthe Federation Alhaji Gidado
Idris,
6. former Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Mohammed Bello,
7.8 former FCT Minister, Lt. General Jeremiah Useni and his wife Julie
Useni;
9, 10 former governors of Kaduna and Jigawa States, Alhaji Dabo Lere and
Ali Sa'ad Birnin Kudu.
11. immediate past Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim
Coomassie,
12. former Special Adviser to the Late head of state, Alhaji Wada Nas,
13. one time minister of Soli Minerals, Alhaji Kaloma Ali,
14. Alhaji Yusufu Maitama Sule (Danmasanin Kano),
15. Sarkin Malaman Kano, Alhaji Ibrahim,
16. Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi,
17. Alhaji Tanko Yakasai,
18. Alhaji Isma'ila Isa Funtua,
19. Chief Abiola Ogundokun,
20. Alhaji Umaru Dikko
21. Zanna Dujima of Borno, Alhaji Bukar Umaru Mandara.
22. famous Islamic scholar Dahiru Bauchi, Sheikh Kaulaha,
23. Ambassador Baba Gana Kingibe,
24. Alhaji Grema Mohammed,
25. Malam Haruna Mai
26. Yasin Katsina, Sarkin Sasa,
27. Emir of Ringim, Dutse and
28. the District Head of Kabo, Alhaji Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo.

Mercifully, not one Igbo was mentioned, either because none was invited,
none attended, or the one or two who attended were too inconsequential to
be mentioned. Whatever be the case, their exclusion from this infamous
list is to be commended.

I do not know about Dalhatu - he may be Northern royalty? - but what,
except he was once a tyrant dictator, would recommend all of these people
to attend the wedding of Abacha's daughter?

After what Nigerians suffered under Abacha, and disclosures about the
financial improprities of Abacha, even Zainab herself and Dalhatu himself,
if ours is not a SHAMELESS country, why would this newly-wed couple PARADE
themselves so publicly, and secondly have such glitterati attend so
conspicuously? This is also in the midst of a situation where the VERY
REPRESENTATIVE of Abacha's Kano constituency, Ibrahim Salisu Buhari, is
under a serious cloud as Speaker.

If others in Nigeria turn out to snigger and lose respect for these
people, they will be accused of ethnic hatred.

Sometimes, you know, one loses heart for one's country, to see how openly
corrupt we are, and yet how openly shameless some of us are about it.

In conclusion, Abba, "the biological enterprise" (as you put) of this new
couple needs the touching grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, just
as our country does.

Dera Bolaji Aluko,

It is not within my prerogative to tell individuals whose marriage or even
funeral ceremonies they should attend. I mind my own business. I no be
dictator. In a democracy, people have the right to associate with whoever
they so wish.

And by the roads, from time immemorial, we have had the gliteratti of
Yoruba politics attend the marriage ceremonies of confirmed Yoruba
thieves. Why it should,
therefore, pain you when it happens north of the Niger is something only
you and your types sabi.

On a slightly different note. Wasn't General Obasanjo the worst traitor of
the Yoruba race before May 29? Wasn't the whole of Afenifere (the
"authentic leaders" of the Yoruba southwest) out to "disgrace" him prior
to the presidential elections, also because he was a northern stooge?
Since when has Prophet Mohammed(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
and Jesus Christ(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) intervened to
make him the new "son" of the Yoruba? Or was it the peoples of the east
and north that intervened to make it possible? And we hear say Olu Falae
wan go see am wen him still no congras Uncle Sege.
Wonder and opportunism never end for naija!

Na war wo! Chei, I am out of here.

Best wishes,

Abba
