APP/AD alliance governorship candidates win 15 out of 33 declared States
The All Peoples Party (APP) has won 9 out of 33 states for which results have been declared in the just concluded gubernatorial elections by the INEC. Its working ally, the Alliance for Democracy (AD) has won 6 out of the 33 declared states.
The pro-establishment party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is mostly financed by retired military generals, and is widely referred to as the "Permanent Dictatorship Party" has so far won 18 out of the 33 declared States.
Kogi, Kwara, Kebbi, Jigawa, Yobe, Borno, Gombe, Zamfara and Sokoto all went APP, their grand ally, the AD won in Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti and Ogun State (which is the home of leading PDP presidential contender General Olusegun Obasanjo (rtd.)
With this victory, it is becoming clearer, that the APP/AD alliance has a greatly increased chance of winning the Presidency. Notable winners include Governor-elect Bola Tinubu of Lagos State who has been a staunch campaigner for Nigerian democracy, and Governor-elect Adamu Aliru of Kebbi State who in one of the most hotly contested gubernatorial races, soundly defeated Colonel Bello Kaliel (rtd.) of PDP and his military backers.

It might serve you fellows better to stick to facts in your analysis of the recently concluded gubernatorial elections in Nigeria. Fact remains that the AD/APP so-called alliance has not yet been consumated. The SW has not forgotten the roles played by major APP architects in issues of June 12!!!. You need, therefore, inform the general public that APP won 9 states, with AD taking the 6 SW states as expected. Lumping both figures into a more respectable figure 15 and calling the more victorious PDP (20+ states won) all sorts of names will not cut it. If you wish to spin, be advised that spin doctors are better off when their tactics are devoid of apparent deceit. Fact be known that APP is mostly made up of people who merely 8 months ago were clamouring for Abacha the butcher to succeed himself. Nigerians have not forgotten, and the upcoming presidential election will prove the lions in sheep skins wrong: it takes more than 8 months for any political metamorphosis to shape up, region or state of origin not withstanding. You will serve the electorate better by calling on them to support living democracy, specific programs, ideas and progress, rather than asking for support to Abacha Peoples's Party (APP).
Remain tuned.
