Piripi Waretini as Queequeg

I have been viewing the made for TV feature "Moby Dick" and noticed
that a Maori actor Piripi Waretini plays the harponeer Queequeg.
Apparently Melville based the character on polynesian whalers that he
meet in the South Pacific.

I would be interested in learning more about Piripi Waretini ?
