RH: In the uncivilised US and UK, their own children are fair game
for sex abuse and physical abuse. This is extremely prevalent and
known cases are just the tip of the iceberg.
The statistics show that in the UK, as many as 3% of the children are
sexually abused, often by their own parents or relatives. This works
out to 1.8 million sexually abused children in the UK alone, based on
UK's population of 60 million, using 3% of 60 million yields 1.8
million.
The figures for physical abuse run even higher, about 8%, or 4.8
million.
The report emphasises that these 3% of sexual abuse and 8% of physical
abuse are JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG. It is far more prevalent that
these statistics show and we can safely double or even triple these
numbers because since these crimes occur in the home and the young
children, often just toddlers, do not know or cannot report on their
parents.
