Yangon, 18 Feb - A ceremony to open the newly-built eight-storey Waizayanda
building of the Jivitadana Sangha Hospital in Bahan Township was held at
the building this morning, attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and
Development Council General Khin Nyunt. The chairman explained facts about
construction of the new building. Then, Commander Maj-Gen Myint Swe,
Minister for Religious Affairs U Aung Khin and Chairman U Ko Ko Gyi formally
opened the new building.
Secretary-1 General Khin Nyunt pressed the button to unveil the stone
inscription of the building and sprinkled scented water on it. Next, the
Secretary-1 and party inspected the building and its wards and left
necessary instructions. Afterwards, the opening ceremony came to an end. The
hospital was built over 60 years ago with the aim of giving free medical
treatments regardless of race, religion and sex.
The hospital daily receives donations of over K 1 million donated by over
100 wellwishers. In the hospital with the donations, free medical treatments
are given to an average of 100 in-patient members of the Sangha and 50 nuns,
and 150 civilian out-patients every day. Respective professors and
specialists contribute health care services. The 20-member hospital
management board of trustees also contribute voluntary services in carrying
out management and administrative services in conformity with the rules and
regulations of the hospital. The building with two elevators was constructed
at a cost of over K 230 million.
Adjutant-General receives Vietnamese delegation

Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Thein Sein received Vietnamese delegation led by
Deputy Chief Justice of Supreme Court and Chief Justice of Central Military
Court of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Mr Le Due Tu at the hall of
Zeyathiri Beikman on Konmyinttha here at noon today.
Medicines, medical equipment donated to MMCWA
Yangon, 18 Feb - A ceremony to donate medicines and medical equipment to
Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association was held at the hall of the
association at the corner of Parami Road and Thanthuma Road, South Okkalapa
Township this morning. Present on the occasion were Chairperson of MMCWA
Prof Daw Kyu Kyu Swe, Vice-Chairperson Dr Daw Khin Win Shwe and CEC members
and donors. First, wellwisher Dr Kam Kyin Dar donated Nevira Pine tablets
and liquid bottles and MEGA Products Co Ltd, on-sight Pregnancy Test and
Betadine Vaginal-Gel to the MMCWA. Vice-Chairperson Dr Daw Khin Win Shwe
accepted the donation and presented certificates of honour to the donors.
Chairperson Prof Daw Kyu Kyu Swe spoke words of thanks.
