Just as I had posted earlier here on SCN:
(a) A nakkali driver [named Bhujel] came forward to go to
jail on Paras's behalf.
(b) And the widow of late Praveen Gurung is now "well-compensated"
(her words!) for her "dukha". As she mentioned in press
conferences, she has now dropped the matter altogether.
[Her stance is understandable. After all, what could the widow do,
except think about the future of her two children in whatever
way she can? Any mother would put her chidren's interests first]
And so, putting (a) and (b) together, the stark conclusion
is this: His Royal Highness Prince Paras Shah has gotten
away with a "murder" once again!
I say that because if Paras is not as guilty as publicly charged,
then he should file a "maan haani" lawsuit against Kantipur
publications and other newspapers and media.
But he can't and he won't.
And we all know the reason why.
So, with this Paras kanda largely over
for now, what would be Palace's 'charm
offensive'? [The Palace, let it be known,
employs of the smartest strategists in
town!!]
Privtely, they'll do this:
(a) Admit to itself that Paras is indeed
a big freakin' mess, and NEVER EVER let him
drive any vehicle in Kathmandu again.
That is to say, provide him with a driver (24/7)
all the time so that the next time His Highness
gets in a state of inebriation, and starts smashing
furniture and faces in public places, His Highness shall
be transported home by a sober, designated driver.
Of course, the painful irony is that the driver's monthly
salary will come out of the pockets of Nepali janata.
Ouch!!
And Publicly, the Palace will do this.
(b) Keep the members of the Royal family in the
news all through this month by show-casing their
individual good works.
I mean, you know the type: The Queen's inaugurating some
flower exhibition here; the Crown Prince declaring
some volleyball games open, and stuff like that.

Meantime, I am shaking my head at Nepal's leftist protesters,
who -- high on passion and idealogy and so short on strategy--
seem NOT to
realise that the circumastances are such that it's now very
hard to continue raising public voices against
Paras.
Why?
Because:
a) Thanks to Girija, the Parliment has already closed for
this session.
(This means the major place to raise hangama is now closed!)
b) Nepali Congress is busy sorting out its internal jhagada.
(This means that the jhagada between Girija and Sher Bahadur,
in which Girija is winning, has pushed
everything else aside in the Congress Party).
c) Sidney Olympics and Dassain or long holidays nearer now
(This means few Nepalis would be willing to spoil the coming
festive moods by continuing to raise hell against Paras on the
street!!)
d) The widow is no longer complaining.
(This means that without late Gurung's family support,
the protesters will have a hard time movitating others
to continue to shout against Paras.)
e) The "nakkali" driver Bhujel is now awaiting a trial.
(The Durbar has shown -- however unscrupulously -- that
at least somebody will be going to jail!)
Faced with these odds against raising hell against
Paras, Nepal's leftists have once again been
outsmarted by Durbaria strategists!!
Now, can anyone explain why Nepali leftists, the very
ones who have been raising the most halla on this
Paras Kanda, are so incredibly dumb?

I ask that question because instead of using valid rapid-fire
legal offensives which could have made their postions against
Paras stronger now, these leftists chose to put all their eggs
on one basket, that is to say, they went to the street and
wasted precious time on "nara-baaji: and "birodh pra.darshan".
The result?
Paras is still free; and the chances of nailing him
legally (which is possible in theory!)
are rapidly diminishing.

Do you think there might be some egoistic issues between him and his
cousin, the crown prince Dipendra?
I am pretty sure his cousin Dipendra and his thulo bubajyu (Birendra)
and thuli mumajyu (queen) must be putting lots of personal pressures
against him (Paras) and Gyanendra for tarnishing the image of the royal
institution. The durbar (King + queen + Dipendra) group won't be sad to
rip off the title from the "Shahajada", just if the public
(- congressis) would not get agitated to punish Paras.
That is Nepal and they (= above the law, even by the democratic norms)
get away with the crimes easily (as they have done in the past).
The demonstrations by the leftist are just like "kaag karaunu" while the
"peena" is getting dried.
Its surprising that the "Congress Party" is so quiet in this issue as if
their own party worker has killed Praveen and them trying to salvage the
murderer. If the Govt. is so supportive of the criminals, how to expect
the law and order situation in the country?
