Farewell and sradhanjali to Arun Thapa

Nepali music lovers are yet deprived of another popular singer. Arun
Thapa is no longer with us. He died at young age of 47, rather in a
typical way, i.e., prolonged illness and in poverty, for a talented
Nepali artist. With the news of his untimely dealth, Arun's heartouching
songs with full of love, sentiments, aspirations and somtimes of
desperations run afresh in my mind and I begin to hum:

Solute to the fallen Music Great. Arun, you were truly a role model for all
of us, showing the path of accomplishments. You and your music had an
immense impact on the culture of Nepal and Nepalis, and for that you will
never be forgotten. Our hearts go to the surviving family. May you rest in
peace.

I know it's sad to bring up a subject like this at this moment but rumour
here in Kathmandu is that Arun Thapa, was an Intravenous drug user and died
of HIV/AIDS........
The reason he wasn't in a hospital when so seriously ill was because
hospitals refused to admit him because of his positive status and he himself
did not want to reveal his positive status.
Although kathmandu is full of rumours, this fact cannot be ruled out.

It is indeed sad to hear this news... I had the privilege of knowing him
personally for some time way back... And all those memories are coming
back...
