I've heard rumours that in the past, the option of Bumiputra status was to
be given to the Peranakan community as was the Portugese community which
happened recently. As I heard, the offer was made by the Govt to MCA on
behalf of the Peranakan community. I believe MCA rejected the offer without
getting a memorandum from the Peranakan community but instead from the rest
of the Chinese community.

Peranakan are originally Chinese (I'm part peranakan), but their culture
have evolve with the inclusion of the Malay Language in their everyday life
and other cultural traits. If MCA had done so, I feel that it is wrong of
them to reject an offer which can do much good for part of their community.

If so, I also strongly feel that the Chinese Culture only shows an outward
form of unity, but is disunited from in-fighting in our own community.
Learn from the Malays....they are known for their unity (forget about PAS...
just a minorty).

Therefore, in my lifetime I'll never vote for MCA. Instead, GERAKAN has my
vote as they project the multi-racial party which can live in HARMONY. May
segregation die off and integration reborn from its ashes, like a PHOENIX
again (symbolic of strength and power).

VOTE GERAKAN ... VOTE GERAKAN ... VOTE GERAKAN

I am wondering whether the Government giive this offer WITHOUT any
pre-requirement. In the past, the Government always gave the same offer with
a requirement, the person must be Muslim. I don't know much about the same
issue now, but I strongly doubt that they will offer this status for nothing.
However, if this is true, the MCA leaders should go to hell(Sorry, I am
not a MCA suppoter). I always think that MCA never really represent 5 million
Chinese in Malaysia(although they always claim so).

What are you guy clamoring for? On the onehand many on s.c.m are
``shouting'' to have this special privilege thing removed. On the
other hand you are shouting unfair when you are denied being called a
bumi. Do you want it? I don't want it. Why should there be such
classification. Instead of fighting to be included I would rather
fight to have it abolished.

Mr. Tee,

Just curious, when you were following up the article, did you stick
out your tongue and say 'nyah nyah nyah pooh pooh' to the terminal as well?
If the sole purpose of your post was to upset the SCM community, I say, save
your breath. If you're sincere about wanting to change something, anything,
about Malaysia's status quo, I don't think I need to remind you that there
are other, better means by which things can be done, without dragging every-
body here in SCM down to your level at the same time.

If you've something valid to contribute, by all means do so. And be
polite as well. Otherwise, please just go away (tm)?
