I have received a billing for a Maxis number I had never registered. I
strongly suspected someone in Kedai Telekom sold my IC copy to phone
racket.

Someone used my IC copy and put a false signature to apply a Maxis
handphone number on 5 Dec 2003. Funny thing is Maxis just mailed in
the billing statement to my address in Penang today in asking RM100
from me which I have never owed to them.

My question is how Maxis can accept phoneline registration with a
photocopy IC? Anyone has experience to sue MAxis for mental stress due
to this kind of problem?

5 Dec 2003?!?! Wow, you've gone into the future already?!
Or you're psychic, can predict the future?
Or did you actually mean the year 2002?

Well, this is still possible, although it is a bad practice.
It depends on the shops (agents) that perform the registration.
Maxis don't really need to see the original IC. They trust their agents
in ensuring that it is a genuine application. As long as Maxis receives
the photocopy of IC from the agent, they will process the application.
So, you should complain to Maxis so that action could be taken against
the agent, if they are at fault.

The actual date is 5 Dec 2002. Sorrylah, my temper was too hot when I
fired my posting.

Definitely, I will kick Ananan's buttock for this scam scheme.

What make you so sure that Kedai Telekom was a culprit in this case?
You never give your photostat IC to any other companies (car financing, loan
application, etc, etc) in your life time heh?

Do you have a TIMEcel number previously? TIMEcel now comes with Maxis
billing statement.

My Timecel number was cancelled long before Maxis took over and the
number was officially closed. Timecel already refunded the deposit to
me

You are suggesting Maxis re-open the account on 5 Dec 2002 and asking
free money from ex-Timecel user like me? Maybe because Maxis is just
another UMNO crony company.

I just received a bill from Maxis on my old TIMEcel number. It says on
the total (RMxxx.xx) with the braket. Does that mean they owe me money
?

Hehehe...I notice your sarcasm there :)

On a serious note, I am the type who don't like to generalised thing.
I tend to evaluate things on case by case basis. For example, let's
admit that with all the short fall, Telekom fixed line is the only
thing that still worked during the famous blackout in 1995 (or 1996 if
I am not mistaken). Anybody remember that?

The same thing is true for other organisation even police. some of
them are good and some of them are bad. I tends to evaluate things on
individual basis.
