There was a long 3 lane queue leading to customs & immigration booths in JB.
A run-down Morris Minor painted in orangey colour was trying to cut into my
middle lane unsuccessfully. The driver was furious and used his black hairy arm
and banged hard at my passenger door, shouting that why I did not give way to
him when his signal was flashing. I told him that I did not see his signaling.
He then forced the cars behind mine and to the right, and managed to switch
lane on my right (the Singapore cars having seen his gangster-like behaviour,
gave way).
He then signalled me to wind down my window which I did only to hear some
shocking & uncouth language. I was also challenged to a fight! Further I was
also told that "this is Malaysia, not Singapore", so watch out.
I do not understand why my not seeing his signal light got to do with
Singapore. Either he drank too much toddy or he believe he was the underground
sultan of johore road.
I was really stunned that this road rage had a racist tone. I do not know if
the Malaysian Highway Code stipulates that Singapore cars must give way under
any and all circumstances to Malaysian cars, especially this one still having a
BN banner on his back windscreen. He does not look like Samy Velu, more a MIC
pariah barking at all cars bearing Singapore plate.
