Probably not gramatically correct --> 'd-daish 7seebak bil-bank <-- but once
I worked out what you meant it was very funny. However this kind of statement
of course would never apply to Americans :)
I suppose I could add in Moroccan (darija) the following
"I Love you" : Amerika balad diyaluk? Ana wallivtuk wa ishtaktuk
Sorry for my poor rendition, Arabic is only my second language and Moroccan
Darija is very far from even Arabic. :)

Common sense should tell you that a little forethought and research will save
you a lot of time and face. If you are serious about researching your family
tree, I think you are pulling at straws here. Nowhere do you mention Sweden,
Norway, Finland, Denmark, or Iceland. They are the Nordic countries, and this
is soc.culture nordic.
Just THINK a little bit, Mr Bostic. Borrow a brain from somebody else if you
have lost that ability. Besides the fact that you didn't mention any
Nordic countries in your post, Smith is not a Nordic name by any stretch of the
imagination. So why on earth did you post your enquiry to this newsgroup?
I can't imagine why it's called "common sense" because it's not very common.
It's scary to think that today's Netters are tomorrow's world rulers.

Don't worry. The VAST majority of them aren't and can never be. They
will be the multitude of heads on which tomorrow's rulers dance.

I think you shouldn't be so hard on Mr. Smith, if you go back in time, far
enough, you'll probably discover that we all have common ancestors, and that
, in the end, Mr. Smith's ancestors back to the stone age or even farther
might be yours, also... Perhaps you're even distant cousins...
About today's netters being world's future leaders... It is frightning,
isn't it? To think of such INTOLERANT people to have power in their hands...
(take your conclusions)
Smith... Smith.... hmmmm....
The name is vaguely familiar...

Hi my name is John Smith. I am from New York. I done reseach on
the Smiths of NY. This is what I found. There sure are a lot
of us. Maybe we should form a cult.

Well, in that case, we are all "distant" relatives if we go as far back
as Adam & Eve, if you're of the religious sort. For those Darwinians out
there, if we go back to the original single cell! (:

Most of us are intolerant enough to become leaders, true. Yet, we lack
slickness and appeal to anyone but ourselves. This will eventually
prevent us from becoming anything but lobbyists. Although this is where
the real power is, most of us are probably more interested in the ego-trip
that comes with leadership than we are in pure power per se.
The other factor you did not mention is that most netters are addicts.
Unless we can use the net to launch nukes at people we do not like, for
instance via a NLCTPD (Nuclear Launch Command Transfer Protocol Daemon),
nothing will ever get done.
Seriously: Came to think of it, Bill Gates would probably make a good
president or prime minister - anywhere. I am not talking about his
(rather doubtful) programming skills or quality of products - but about
his ability as a businessperson - to make his empire continue growing a
long time after most of us had thought it impossible. Also, you rarely
see him flame people (except current backwards and narrowminded
politicians), at least when he is not using his pseudonym at aol.com.
