Vietnam and Laos on May 9 signed a contract to grow rubber, other
industrial crops and build a rubber-processing factory, in Laos '
central Savanakhet province.
Signatories were Thongmi Phommisay, Vice Chairman of the Lao Planning
and Investment Committee and Le Minh Chau, Vice General Director of
the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group and CEO of the QUASA-GERUCO joint
stock company.
Under the contract, QUASA-GERUCO will embark on an US $18.73 million,
30-year plan to grow rubber and timber and build a processing factory
on a 8,650 ha plot in Savanakhet. (VNA)

dkj,
LPDR must be so shame to sign the contract to grow rubber industrial
with Vietnam. LPDR government should sign the contract with the farmer
and/or the rubber plantation investors who are Laotian to grow and
promote the rubber product to the Industrialize country who needed.
All your juice just give to the Vietnamese and not Lao citizen. Sound
like there is no one in LPDR government know how to deal with
Industrialize country about business and try to promote the product
your farmers have produced to them. Every thing end up with Vietnamese
help and plan. It is too bad.

Didn't Yong Chanthalangsy tell you that are not a pressman? Let the

messenger. Whatever, mini-pressman.

Laos is open country for all investors, of course, lao investors have
priority to all kinds of doing business in Laos.
Lao people do some rubber business but Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai,
Malaysian, Indian ... are the bigger investors in this field.
Lao investors are more interested in plantation of trees like "Mai
Ketsana", "Mai Sak"..... those promised more gainfully.

I hope all the revenues from the rubber plantations go to alleviate
the poverty of pasasoon lao and nothing goes to the politburo. Let's
hope by 2015 all pasasoon lao will live above poverty line. Pheua

Thanks for sharing the news. Whatever economic project-s happening in
Laos, I hope they will push Laos a step forward.
As a Lao Nork, I feel bad for us, Lao Nai and Nork, to bash each
other- especially Lao Nork toward LPDR's leadership- every direction
and topic. I certainly not condone the leadership of LPDR but I think
we aught to aplaud any non-political project for the country.
Certainly one party leadership, like LPDR, and corruption is going to
slow down the development progress in the country but I am sure the
country is moving forward no matter what since development is pushing
from all directions of Laos (Thailand, Vietnam and China). To
cooperate and help each other will certainly bring more advantage to
our brothers/sisters in Laos. Why fight each other until LPDR changes
its ruling system?.

Rubber plantation is for tourist to hike up lao virgins
Please be in the content of topic "Vietnam and Laos sign rubber deal"
It's impossible to fix the country with the whole perfect in one night
What the lao gvmt is doing now is a big challenge for the real future.
Tree plantation is one of gvmt's priorities to find jobs for our young
generation and to boost our new entrepreneurs.
One of undertaking cultivation projects is two-hundred hectare
sugarcane plantation in Savannakhet province that now needs more
hundreds of thousand local labourers …
You may think that project is leading to corruption and so on
But I have thought different ways from that negative view…
