When people allow the government to have more power than the power of
the people themselves, that government corrupt...absolute power,
corrupt absolutely, period!! There is no surprise why Laos is among
the poorest countries. See for yourself why, only if the report is
true, of course?

i don't know about these numbers. but one thing for sure those who have
strong connections to the powers that be are getting richer every day and
outrageously so while the poor are getting poorer with a very bleak future.
when my wife traveled back to laos two years ago an acquaintance invited her
to a posh coffee shop in downtown savannakhet where the rich and
famous/infamous of the town meet for coffee/chatting/show-off. the one thing
they liked to show off is their cars. they are the latest models like suvs
toyotas, bmw and other expensive cars.
i don't have any problem with people getting richer as long as it is done in
a fairly equitable way meaning the wealth can be spread around just a bit
also meaning if the poor can afford a decent meal too. so on that note i
don't see how a communist/totalitarian regime can help its people achieve
such dream vis-a-vis a democratic or even semi-democratic country. take the
case of the united states of america: this is not the most perfect democracy
by any stretch of imagination but is still by far the most advanced and
richest nation the world has ever known because of its way of democratic
governance. sure there a lot of super rich folks but the poor are getting
richer too. that's how a normal nation is supposed to take care of its own
people.

I don't know if the report is true or not. But one thing I do know and I
think you will probably agree with me on this, that corruption exists among
Lao leaders. That, I know. How much have they sucked, that I don't know?
As for Bounthanh, I would not ignore this man totally neither. You have to
remember that this man is one of the top Lao students that were chosen by
the current regime in the 80s to study abroad. He maybe crazy about Viets
troops in Laos, but he ain't stupid.

May I add to your whining.
In a free society, institutions such as family, school, temples or churches, and
private enterprises play greater roles in structuring community life. Under a
half open-door society with one party governing such as Laos, the state or
communist party control most, if not all of the institutions, in another words
the Party plays greater roles in structuring community life. Is it a bad
thing? Let Mr. Yanang Laodeng be the judge! Unlike democratic or free society,
which usually call for decentralization of power, and the leaders are required
to share power with other leaders, and they require that ordinary citizens have
power, including the ability to replace ineffective and corrupt leaders. The
communist or Socialist form of governance has the same authoritarian structural
arrangements, Lao leaders or the leaders from the top down to the various
institutions are self installed or installed by [others within its structure] to
exercise predominant and unlimited power over the people and other members of
the institutions. This type of governing structure, people don't have power to
replace ineffective and corrupt leaders. Thus the corrupt one is replaced by
another in with its structure or [Party] and the line is endless.

I hope they know the consequences if they cannot prove the source to be

For the sake of argument and let's to assume that it was true, there aren't too
many methodologies which these people can make money in Laos for Laos is not an
industrialized country. Perhaps they are:
(1) selling dopes across Thailand
(2) selling the Laos' natural resources such as timbers and mining
(3) pocketing the money from the international organizations targeted for the
Laos development
Any other ways, folks?

Since when this obscure cabbage sheet " Phènedin Lao " became a
competitor of this authoritative "Forbes Magazine" in the
classification of the richest peoples in the world. Each time I read
Forbes Magazine's annual report on the Richest Peoples in the World
and particularly the 100 richest peoples in Asia, I am very
disappointed that none of Lao name appears among the list of the 100
richest men of Asia. There are a lot millionnaires from Japan,
Hongkong, India, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and even of
Thailand but with my disappointment, never from Laos. And the poorest
among the 100 on top of the list weights less than US$ 100 million.
I am, therefore, amused by the revelations or rather the baseless
accusation conducted by this cabbage sheet which hardly print a few
hundreds copies by opposition to hundreds of thousands copies Forbes
Magazine.
I also recall that the same "PhenedinLao" revealed sometime ago that
there are 5 millions of Vietnamese living nowaday in Laos...
I would retain myself from judging the figures given by this
suspicious rightwing paper and beg all of you to use common sense and
caution before using a possible "Lie" as a bases for any discussion.
Because if you allow yourself to accept baseless statements, figures
and assuption, the quality of our debat would be certainly reduce...
By the way I didn't notice that there is now possibility of posting
directly from Google until my posting has been reject twice,
yesterday.

By the way, Sorry that you dissappointed that Lao people are NOT on top of the 100
richest men in Asia. Do you know why? If you don't know let me tell you, the
richest men in Laos are Corrupt Politicians NOT businessmen like other countries as you mentioned.
Also, since you defended your Fucking Bosses, let me ask you Comrade Mouth Piece
LPDR, Thanouxay. Do you know that when the Daughter of your Fucking President,
Buck Mah Khamtaay (Dead Gold) got married. Buck Mah Khamtaay built a mansion as
a gift for his daugther wedding that cost more than $2 million dollars. Do you
know that? If you want to see this mansion go and take a look for yourself since
this house is situated in Phonexay on the way to Thatluang. And, do you know
where Buck Mah Khamtaay gets his moneys or where his moneys came from? Also,
Comrade Mouth Piece LPDR, Thanouxay, Do you know that Buck Mah Khamtaay built
his additonal mansion in China near the border of Laos? Do you know that every
month there will be his closest staff flies to Northern Part of Laos to pay for
the people that take care of his house in China do you know that? And this
issue suppose to be a state top secret for Buck Mah Khamtaay do you know that?
Or you just don't see nor know nothing since you just put your head under your
wife's skirt as usual.
Love with lots of kisses just for you, but Dead to your Fucking Boss, Buck Mah
Khamtaay and his Fucking group of thugs.

Hi everybody,
This is just a test. I am new from this forum and am glad to be learned from you all. Thanks!
Best regards

It is crystal clear to everybody that the source "Phènedinlao" is not
credible and the information was a big lie... Therefore, no more
discussion about it.
With regard to Latsmi and Fèng, do you think that the so-called Human
Right Group would be of any relevancy in this case? Do you think that
the Lao Government would care about what this group had, is and will
say??? This is advantage of being genuinely independent. You do not
have to bother of what other are saying. Provide that you have enough
proof that somebody committed crime, you suit him or her and if it is
proved that there is violation of Laws, you just convicted them.
Forget about the Human Right Group, because when Latsmi jailed a
couple of dozen intellectuals including Sitahéng, Saneu, Sèngdao
Vangkéosay and others... What did those groups said??? Nothing,
absolutely nothing.
