Thiruvananthapuram: Two rival groups of Kerala, namely Vishwa Hindu Parishad
and Christian groups are brought together by a religious alteration scam
which ambushes naive girls by forging love.

The groups have agreed to collaborate with each other to fight the social
evil, which they believe is maligning their respective communities.

An official of Kochi-based Christian Association for Social Action (CASA), K
S Samson stated that both Hindu and Christian girls are falling into the
religious trap which has compelled the groups to join hands with VHP to in
order to deal with the issue.

Few days ago, CASA was informed about a Hindu family in a Christian bethel
where a school girl was trapped in the religious alteration racket, he
added. Following to which the group spread the word to VHP soughing their
help.

A 'Hindu Helpline' was initiated by the VHP, which registered around 1,500
calls in the last three months. The helpline managers have claimed that most
of the callers have expressed their desire to congratulate them for their
implying punitive methods on social threats.

On the other hand, the Kerala Catholic Bishops Council has formed a set of
do's and don'ts for Christian parents cautioning them to keep a strict tab
on their children to prevent their families from getting affected.

Father Johny Kochuparambil, secretary of Councils Commission for Social
Harmony and Vigilance feels that the issue is very delicate and should be
handled with precaution otherwise it might lead to religious conflicts.

The matter is now taken up and will be carefully watched by Kerla high court
which has ordered the DGP to investigate the charges and address to it.
