I'd highly recommend Germantown Jewish Center, in the Mt. Airy
neighborhood (NW Philly). It's a conservative synagogue with a great
rabbi (Lenny Gordon), lots of adult education classes, and a great
many interesting and helpful people. There are three different
services running on Shabbat morning -- the main "normal" sanctuary
service, and two alternative minyans.
