Don't worry about. The rabbis usurped our authority anyway.

M'idach gisa you might want to study the tosefot in B'tula Niseit, wherein
we learn that Kohanim are experts in btulin. I, for one, am both perplexed
as to how we obtained such expertise and how we might return to the above
practice. V'techezena eineinu ...

Let me refer you to Niddah 64b. Shmuel (the Amora, not the prophet!),
who is extolled for his expertise in this respect, was a Kohen.
