Michael Savage is looking to back someone, I wonder if it will be
Cantor?

I was hoping he'd run for Cantor. There are vacancies in Baltimore
and I think Virginia.
Then we'd have Cantor Cantor.
I already know a Rabbi Cantor, in Skokie, so I'd have a complete set.

When I was growing up we had a Cantor Cantor in my synagogue.

ISTM there's a lot of pious Cant involved here. :-)
Dennis
Sounds good. I sure liked Eddie Cantor (Edward Israel Iskowitz).

When I was growing up, which was many years earlier, the the name of
the cantor at the Brooklyn Jewish Center, (then Conservative,
now ???), was Cantor or Kantor.

Eddie Cantor had only one wife, Ida. Their marriage lasted 48 years
(1914-1962). ending with her death, two years before his. She was
immortalized in his theme song: "Ida, Sweet As Apple Cider".

Gershon Eliyahu ben David hamechune Giorgies E. Kepipesiom
wishing all easy fasting on Sunday next, should fasting still be
required.
I almost afraid to ask, but what fast is that? (I only fast one day a
year, on Yom Kippur).
In the old days the BJC was quite a place: Synagogue and beit midrash;
Talmud Torah, "Progessive" primary school; kosher restaurant; banquet
hall; gym and swimming pool. Sic transit gloria mundi.
The synagogue was stauchly Conservative, but was prepared to indulge
the wishes of its more conservative (l.c. "c") members: One aisle
separated the men's section on the left from the central larger
"coed" section, which - in turn - was separated by another aisle from
the women's section. This so called "ezrat nashim" was on the same
level and had no "me`hitzah", but I imagine that the mutual visibility
of the worshippers in the segregated sections was adequately poor.
Amitai
That sounds like a fantastic compromise.

The fast of the 10th of Tevet. See the Wikipedia article for details.

.... insert clever quote here ...
When Jonathan Baker was here, his shul was a spin-off I think, or at
least met in the same building for a while, as a shul on 8th Avenue
(or 9th?, one block from Prospect Park) in Park Slope, and they too
had men's, mixed, and women's seating. The first time I went there
all the men in the mixed section were sitting on the men's side of it
and all the women were sitting on the women's side of it.
It wasn't crowded, only maybe 10 people in the mixed section but
that's how they sat.
I was there again and the second time I think they were interspersed.
It didn't represent any mood change, I think, just who was there on a
given day.

And I went to a Moroccan synagogue where the hazan's surname was Hazan
(he actually dealt in jewelry by day and has since moved on). There
are at least a dozen Rabbi Hazan/Chazan's in Chabad and those are the
ones who are all from one Russian family. I don't know how many
Moroccan Rav Hazan's there are out there.
Cantor is not orthodox. However, he is a Conservative conservative.

Did you mean not orthodox or not Orthodox?
Best,
Abe
Yes.
