I am looking for at least one person interested in taking on moderation
duties for this news group. Your duties will involve reading the submitted
messages and deciding on approval or disapproval according to the news
group charter. Moderators must be minimally computer and Internet
literate, knowledgeable about the Holocaust, and willing to spend
approximately an hour per week vetting submitted messages. This is not a
position that requires any specialized computer knowledge.
Interested? Please send me a short note about yourself that explains your
interest in taking on the position as well as the skills and background
you bring to it. Please post your reply to this message or send an email
message to shoa...@verdad.org.
I should note that I have been the moderator of this group for most of the
past three years. Although I still enjoy the duties, I have been able to
devote less and less time to them under the pressure of my academic work.
I would like to see the moderation taken over by some one or some group of
people who can more consistently handle this important task.
The position is rewarding: it involves one in the important role of
promoting discussion of the Shoah in general, as well as helping
individuals come to terms with the enormity of this history. Many readers
come to SCJH to seek information about the Holocaust after having learned
about it for the first time; others come looking for traces of lost loved
ones. The moderator ensures that these voices are heard in a forum of
integrity and historical responsibility.
