HELP WANTED FOR ITALY BOOK

I am a UK writer and have recently been commissioned to write a book on
living and working in Italy. I am looking to engage one or more
freelances to assist me with the research and writing.

The book will be aimed at people from English-speaking countries (UK,
USA, Australia, etc.) who are moving to Italy for a medium- to long-
term stay. It is not a tourism book, and will have few if any
illustrations (so no photographs are needed!). Italian language skills
are not essential. You will, however, need good first-hand knowledge of
modern Italy. An ex-pat based in Italy would be ideal, or failing that
someone who visits Italy regularly for work and/or family reasons.

Payment will be at a rate of 30 UK pounds per 1000 words - not a
fortune, I know, but there will in addition be a performance-related
bonus (worth an additional 5 to 15%) when the book is accepted for
publication. You will also receive an acknowledgement in the book, of
course.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please reply directly (NOT
through the newsgroup) by email to nd...@compuserve.com, with the
following:

1. Basic information concerning your writing/research experience and an
indication of your knowledge of Italy (maximum 500 words in total).
2. A sample of your unedited writing (around 1000 words). This should
be non-fiction and ideally Italy-related. Send it as a separate
attachment in rtf or plain text format.

The deadline for initial expressions of interest is October 15 1999.
From these responses I will select a shortlist of people who may be
asked to complete a short test piece (for which payment will be made).
Full information on the project will be sent to those people who are
shortlisted.

Finally, I should mention that I have recently used this method to help
write another book, Living & Working in Germany. The associates I have
used on this project will be happy to provide ‘references’ for me if
required. I will provide their details on request.

Thank you for your interest in this opportunity. I hope to hear from
you soon.
