A public presentation in Wausau by a man who claimed to have survived
Auschwitz has been canceled as family members have come forward disputing
the veracity of his story.

Gunther Skaletz was scheduled to speak publicly Tuesday evening at Wausau
East High School, hosted by a Wausau group A Walk in Their Shoes. In a
statement Monday morning, the group said it could not verify or confirm
allegations that Skaletz was lying, but that it was canceling the event due
to a "cloud of controversy."

Skaletz, who lives in Manitowoc and is a frequent speaker for schools,
churches and other Wisconsin organizations, claimed in his book that he was
sent to and later released from the Nazi death camp Auschwitz, conscripted
by the German army and forced to fight the Soviets on the Western Front,
then captured and sent to a Russian work camp, from which he escaped.

In addition to the public event Tuesday, Skaletz was also scheduled to speak
to classrooms today and tomorrow. Those events have also been canceled.

It's not even verified that he is a phoney, nor that he is a Jew. E.g. read
the first comment below the article:

"I do note that there is no mention of Auschwitz on the website [Gunther
Skaletz's website], and nothing about being a Jew."

It's just amazing what sort of "articles", this senile Dutch, Dumb Dutch
Nazi Heini, keeps searching for all day long! LOL

........................Heinrich, I found this article on that Gunther
Skaletz, he's a ethnic Catholic German from Tarnowski, 65 miles north
of Krakow, Poland; he went Germany to work & was shanghaied into the
Waffen S.S. Hitler Jugend & the rest of the
story..........................

Skaletz keeps his promise to LBJ, writes book about WWII experience
TWO RIVERS — In 1969, Gunther Skaletz made a promise to President
Lyndon B. Johnson. However, it would be close to 40 years before he
would even begin to follow up on his word.

"He told me that I must write a book," said Skaletz in reference to
the meeting with President Johnson at his ranch, known as the Texas
White House, outside of San Antonio. "I made a promise to write a book
40 years ago and I had to keep my promise. So I sat down and began to
formulate my chapters."

Gunther Skaletz (By Eddie O'Neill | For The Compass)That was six and a
half years ago. The result is a self-published autobiography released
last year titled "Life on Both Sides of the Wall." It is the story of
a survivor; the inspiring tale of a Polish-German teenager who never
gave up while living through some of the darkest moments of World War
II.

Born in 1927 in the small town Tarnowski, 65 miles north of Krakow,
Poland, Skaletz has only fond memories of his childhood growing up
with one brother and three sisters. "We never missed a Sunday Mass. It
was my mother who taught me never to forget to pray; always keep your
faith and your hope and never give up," he said.

That peaceful family life came to an abrupt end in 1939 when German
tanks rolled into his town. The onslaught of World War II had started.
In his words, his family's life changed forever. He would live under
the Nazi occupation for four years before leaving home to pursue his
vocation.

At 15, he boarded the train to Auschwitz to begin an apprenticeship at
a fine hotel in hopes of one day becoming a chef. He was only there
for a few weeks before the SS gestapo stormed into the hotel and
arrested him and his coworkers. It was April of 1943.
"My faith and my prayers kept me going," he said. "No one was there to
keep my spirits up except my Lord. My prayers were: ‘Lord please help
me; look after me.'"

Name: Gunther Skaletz

Parish: St. Peter the Fisherman, Two Rivers

Age: 81

Favorite saint: Fr. Maximilian Kolbe

Words to live by: "Never forget to pray, always keep your hope and
faith and never give up." (His mother)

The Lord heard his call. A plea deal between the Nazis and the hotel
owner allowed him to leave the concentration camp in the fall of 1943.
However, freedom didn't last long.

He was drafted in the German army and after 10 weeks of training,
Skaletz was sent out to fight on the Russian front - only to be
captured again. This time it was by the Russians.

"It was horrible. No food for three days. No bath," he recalled. "We
had to sleep on the wet, damp ground with the only warmth being the
body of the guy next to you."

On a long, arduous march, he and another German soldier were singled
out of the prison line. They were tied to a tree. His friend was shot.
He was spared and rescued by a local farmer.

He recuperated in Genthin, Germany, and found work at a large inn
working in the kitchen, only to be arrested once again by the Russian
KGB. He was sent to dismantle an ammunitions factory. When the job at
the factory was complete, Skaletz and the others prisoners were loaded
onto a train.

"We were on the train to Siberia. I told my friend that before we
entered the Russian border we must escape," he said.

In his belief, what happened next was a miracle. The train stopped,
the doors opened and an explosion at the front of the train caused the
five Russian guards to be distracted. Skaletz and his friend jumped
and ran.

The two traveled in the darkness of night, moving from village to
village and living in fear of being captured. Soon they separated.
Skaletz's ultimate destination was East Germany, a 300-mile journey.

As the war came to an end, he continued his studies and earned a
degree in the culinary arts. Skaletz put these new skills to good work
cooking and managing hotels and inns throughout Europe. In the early
1960s he was invited to New York.

He worked his way up the hotel and hospitality ladder. His reputation
as a top notch chef became well known and eventually led him to Texas
and preparing dinners for the President and Lady Bird Johnson.

His promise to President Johnson to tell his gripping life story was
not an easy one to embark on. He had imposed a code of silence upon
himself for decades. His memories of the war, he said, were just too
painful.

His wife Elaine was a constant support and, two and one-half years
into the writing process, told him not to give up.

With his book complete, his schedule these days is full of speaking
engagements. He estimates that in the last year he has given around 25
talks to a number of grade schools, high schools and other groups
mainly in the Manitowoc and Two Rivers area.

"Sometimes I can't believe I went through this," said Skaletz. "I
don't have enough fingers on my hands to count the number of lives
I've lived."

His office in the basement of his home is full of notes and letters
from people or students who have read his book or heard his inspiring
story and feel exactly the same way.

Bugger me! A jew lying about its Holocaust(tm) experiences,
Whodathunk it possible :-)

If every yid in the world was made to tell the truth of his/her
Holocaust(tm) experiences, there would be no Holocaust(tm) as we are
forced to believe.

My dear "benjie",

This is quite odd.

In Message-ID: <xN2dnYjRopJf4m_b...@giganews.com> you

"Kurt Schlesinger walked the tightrope of a survivor. He was the
type of person who left the impression that he possessed deplorable
mentality. After all, he was prepared to sacrifice the lives of over
one hundred thousand fellow prisoners, sending them to certain death

own and that of some of the German alte Lagerinsassen".

In Message-ID: <GJqdndzhxapyU9Lb...@giganews.com>
you accused the "Zionists" of standing on the sidelines during
the Holocaust, while -- as you wrote -- millions were murdered
in the gas chambers.

So, do you deny the Holocaust or not? Does it depend on
the day of the week? The moon? The amount of "magic
mushrooms" you consumed during the previous evening? Please
advise.
