Some of us notice your not about! And some of us are concerned!
Do reply if you see this!

I have it on good authority that she has a real life.
You should try it some time ;-)

Jaysus, you've been in merkinland too long: you've grown an awfully
thin skin :-)))) (added smily double chins to emphasise the fact that
all above is meant as a joke)
Seriously, though, last I heard (early July), she was ok.
Caít()
I doubt Howard is lurking. I felt he was always complaining about Ireland
when he was posting here, perhaps some of it justified. There's no way a
sane man could have kept it up. :-) I think (and hope) he has moved onto
better things. That said, I'd love to find an e-mail address for Howard.
His oceanfree e-mail address doesn't work and his mad-as-hell website and
associated e-mail address is down.
I met him back in 2003 I think. I think, in March or April 2003, I revealed
his Donegal address on this newsgroup. (&) I'm sorry about this. I recall
he left for London later that year with his family. Before the end of that
year, Howard sent me a phone text message (I wasn't posting to SCI either
since that summer) to inquire if I was okay. That's the measure of what a
nice guy he was. He wanted to let me know he was okay, at that stage, and
was settled in London with his family. I was happy to hear from him and
replied to let him know I was fine.
I'm awfully sorry now about revealing Howard's address in Co. Donegal. I
don't know why I did it. Indeed, I wanted to e-mail him 2 months or so ago
to write sorry about this and also to express my wish that he return to SCI
(to continue bitching and moaning about the country. LOL). As written
though, the e-mail addresses I discretely found weren't working.
Anyway, I hope Howard is alive and well. I hope no visiting terrorist paid
him a call and executed him.
Paul Carr
(&) I have no idea why I did that! It was probably more to do with idiocy
on my part rather than malice.

Sad, but true! :)
I'm a bad girl though......not to check up on all y'all over the holidays!
Hope everyone's well and recovered from New Year's!
KateH
Thanks! The same to you & yours and to all the usual SCI suspects that're
still hanging around! :)
Hope to hell that 2009 is really gone. 2010 looks promising, so
far.......what, 7 days in? :)
> How are things? Your doggies ok?
Things are.........good! No complaints. Dogs are good, we lost our
old-lady labrador, last summer, but my darling, wolfhound Donny is still
going strong at 7. Still cycling (indoors till it warms up). Dinking
around on the farm. I'll be a hundred years old before I get to move up
there. We're playing lots of music. The Kid's still in a band, actually
producing a concert next month (three bluegrass bands and it's a benefit for
the local arts council) and doing the scholarship-application-thing..... he
graduates this Spring. So we're busy.
Oh, and if that wasn't enough we have a Chinese exchange student living w/us
all year.....he goes home in June.
So, yeah......Cat(h) was right. Real Life. :)
What's up around here? The short version..........anyone?
KateH
> What's up around here? The short version..........anyone?
A bunch of people said some stuff and then another bunch of people
called them stupid and then both groups ended up calling each other
every name under the sun. Then some Nazi's showed up. Then it was
Christmas.
bren
p.s. Happy New Year to you and all the other nice SCI folk (you know
who you are).
What!? No link included for us to follow and learn something that will sear
our eyeballs forever?
Happy New Year to the brens, and the C(K)ates, and the Gers, and the
brothers' grim, and anyone else who harbors any inkling of good will. May
life treat you fairly.
Doc
NOthing especially sad about the concept of real life - except when it
is, of course. And you're no bad girl for abandoning us, and ignoring
us, and not even thinking about us. No. We'll just sit here in the
dark.
You did not miss much, though if you have interesting winter pics, OWM
has started a competition/gathering exercise (see other thread).
We're having a real proper winter here, and Ger has taken some cool
snowy pics in Donegal over the holidays. I have a few from my garden
this morning (snowed in) which I shall put up later.
Welcome back! Good to see you!
Caít()
Ta much, and same right back at you!

Now, now....I didn't say I never thought about you. It happens that I was
*just* thinking about SCI last Monday. I was in mid Xmas-tree-demo when I
realized something tooooootally startling. I hadn't ended every shopping
trip at the liquor store. The GD paper Santa was rip-free. No stress about
Jan. credit card bills. Christmas didn't suck.
It was relaxed and pleasant and sane and.......it's never been my *thing*
so....... that kinda bothered me. :) For some reason.....SCI instantly
came to mind and I wondered how bad *it* might suck now. Wrapped in masses
of twinkley lights, pine needles in my hair, thinking about SCI....isn't the
mind a mystery?

I saw that. :)
What a good idea!

Good to see you, too. Look forward to your garden pictures. :)
Don't know how long I'll be around, but this contest thingy looks
promising....and I've enjoyed Ger's pix.
KateH
Ahhhh, and ......all's right w/the world. :)

Maybe he has a new trick, now. People *do* change, ya know.
Kate(grow up, move away, never write, etc, etc. etc)H :)
PS.......any good stories, anyone?
Funny, here are the women all chatty and warm and full of good cheer, and
the men are in the front parlor shouting and huffing and ready to go to war.
Some things NEVER change. More sherry my dears?

You mean, all the women and bren & Ray...right? I hope they haven't changed
THAT much.
Besides, I need info! Manly info. I need to know why guys get to a certain
age and cut their hair short......if that phase is reversable and if
so.......what is the catalyst that inspires a man to "go long" again?
I'm glad to see you here and ...chatty/warm/cheerful Doc. :)
Kate(H)
Length is not everything, Kate. I suppose it depends a lot on how much he
has left on top. Nothing worse than a bald man with pigtails....imho.
(Flashes of Jesse Ventura before my eyes)
Doc
Going to war! I was just thinking about that yesterday. Some people say that
religion has been the biggest cause of war in the history of mankind. I say
that men are the culprits because of their views on religion. Some of the
insults flying about here over the past few days could very easily result in
a violent backlash if the perpetrators were sitting in the same room instead
of smugly and anonymously sitting in the comfort of their armchairs. Anyway,
just for you ladies, a festive shot or two

Don't underestimate the contribution self righteous women egging on their
menfolk have made to various conflicts.
Mankind's religions reflect mankind's views - after all, both derive from
the same source.

Here now, you will have no egging from me, except in the nog.
Doc
Oh Lord, no! :) He's not a bit bald ....unless he's been to that damned,
Korean barber of his!!!
I guess I always hoped that cutting it short was .....just a phase. :)
Kate(nice "length isn't everything" line, btw....almost went there)H
There's a study w/chimps that seems to indicate that male chimps
occasionally enjoy forming gangs & killing chimps from other groups.
Wouldn't surprise me if war has a deeper place in in our genetic makeup, and
religion gives us that well defined "us & them"......that acts as a trigger.
And, if a little *genetics-vs-religion* reference won't start a word-war
here.....I don't know SCI. :)

Love the red coat picture........it's a keeper!
Kate(the pic & the adorable kid!)H :)
Now THAT makes me mad enough to start a war at the grocery store. Since
when do we have to have egg nog in the store all year long?!
Kate(and valentines vying for shelf space w/xmas candy?!)H
Eggnog is hard to translate (or explain) into Chinese.
Caííít(hic)
> Eggnog is hard to translate (or explain) into Chinese.
Mind you, it is easily ingested using chopsticks.
No, short is right for men aged over 4. Unless you are a native
merkin (you know, the ones with allegedly red skin), you will never,
ever, ever look good with long hair as a man.
> Kate(nice "length isn't everything" line, btw....almost went there)H
Cissy!

I see the New Year has you in boozy mood.
Caít() (I prefer a good Irish whiskey meself, no additives, no ice)
No wonder the fellow is having trouble adjusting. He thinks he's
eating some nice custard, and then he staggers out without a coat.

We'll have her makin' snow angels out there.... in no time, Doc!
KateH :)

Aw Geeze, is this where I tell you that my fondest parenting dream has come
true???
My youngest isn't going to be a Doctor or a lawyer. He's going to do
something really important instead.
He's been accepted to college ......in the wine making dept.
Kate(you gotta come visit someday)H :)
Do you know that you can throw boiling water into the air here and it will
freeze before it hits the ground?
Doc
(there is a reason I'm into the sherry)
Purely for anti-freeze purposes, evidently?
Caít()
Are we talking about the youngster who was about 9 years old when I
met him in an Italian Dublin restaurant?? The talented young
musico??? In college already???? I feel old!
And I too approve of his choice. We need talented folks learning how
to make wine, to keep us oul' wans pickled in the kind of quality
beverages we have become accustomed to.

Relax, you may FEEL old, but......I AM OLD! :)
He and I were just talking about that night. :) He vaguely remembered both
you and Ger, but mostly he remembers meeting..... Superfly! :)
KateH
Doc, who also has fond memories
Indeed. I haven't seen Super since, just wondering if he even looks
in here once in a while?

You are reading SCI, your eyeballs were therefore thoroughly scarred a
long time ago.

Thanks Doc and the same to you. In fact life is great and busier than
an apiary dweller on amphetamines.

Thanks Kate, although I'm just letting the scurrilous accusation that
I have grown up slide in the spirit of New Year goodwill.

In here? Sacrilege.
bren

Well, count me in with the women. All these uptight men screaming at
each other brings me out in a rash. Mind you, a certain type of woman
has been known to bring me out in a rash too. *cough*
