or, maybe the New Oxford *American* Dictionary ???
There is a difference.

Palin invents word 'refudiate,' compares herself to Shakespeare
By Matt DeLong
The Twittersphere erupted Sunday when former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin
tweeted that "peaceful Muslims" should "refudiate" the mosque being
built in New York City near where the Twin Towers once stood. Palin
found herself the butt of many tweets, as refudiate, of course, is not
a word in the English language.
After deleting the offending tweet, Palin replaced it with another
calling on "peaceful New Yorkers" to "refute the Ground Zero mosque
plan," which only added to the confusion because it would appear the
word she was looking for was "repudiate." Then came the kicker: To
quell the vicious Twitter-ribbing she was receiving, Palin unleashed
yet another tweet comparing herself to no less than the Bard of Avon.
"Refudiate", "Misunderestimate", "wee-wee'd-up." English is a living
language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate
it!" (from SarahPalinUSA)
Naturally, this led to a very entertaining Twitter meme, #ShakesPalin,
in which participants revamped classic Shakespeare quotes, Palin-style
(and of which Reason's The Cato Institute's Julian Sanchez was
arguably the champion).
A good time had by all.
me note--Sister Sarah almost got that completely right. It has been
said that Wullie S. invented no less than three thousand words that
are now commonly used--see here for some (and I was surprised)
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_words_were_invented_by_Shakespeare
It is said that if you leave ten thousand monkeys pounding away on ten
thousand typewriters over a period of ten thousand years, they will
eventually come up with the complete works of Shakespeare, I would
suggest that we place Sister Sarah, mukluks and all, in front of a
computer terminal and let her bang away and see what other words she
can invent.
I would rather her do that then try and set American foreign policy--
we have more than enough problems now

And to think, you voted for her as VP in 2008. Good people can make
mistakes, really good people acknowledge those mistakes. That makes you
really good. Hats off to you, even though I haven't tasted your curried
meatloaf (and you haven't tasted my barbecued meatloaf).

I watched her new *reality show* on Sunday night, I tried, but I couldn't
see Russia from her door.....There was however, lots of footage of Todd
Palin, so I can heartily recommend it to Jane-Margaret.
cheers.....Jeff
Perfectly cromulent word.

Palin says she could beat Obama if she ran against him after his first
term
WASHINGTON Sarah Palin says she could defeat President Barack Obama if
she were to seek the White House in 2012.
In an excerpt of an ABC News interview released Wednesday, the 2008
Republican vice-presidential nominee says she is considering a
presidential run. When asked directly if she thought she could defeat
Democrat Obama, the former Alaska governor replied, “I believe so.”

Before we run off the end of the earth with this, the clip on the ABC
website from an interview which wont air until early December is clipped
out in mid-sentence, providing no context to the less than definitive
statement about whether she is considering a run. In an interview last
week with Matt Lauer, she said she would only run if there were no other
good conservative candidates. Let's wait for the context.

thanks (I think)--hopefully we'll be trading off on meat loaf in the
near future (if I ever get back home--all of a sudden I'm popular)
thanks, Jeff--I haven't watched it yet, so I have something
(hopefully) to look forward to...
